now a day the term troll means 'anybody that doesnt agree with you or somebody that you dont agree with" a differeent of opinion. It doesnt mean he looking for an argument. the term troll cannot be defended. Like have you quit beating your wife yet.

people call other troll just to have the last word. when your wife use the "whatever" word. It cant be defended.

Clearly you have not frequented Reddit, 4chan, or Stormfront. City Data is super-tame by comparison.

Not all of them ...
Information Warfare: Trolls Triumphant

"In the United States the same techniques were adopted to push political candidates or commercial products. There it was called "viral marketing." The CIA has used a similar technique to counter anti-American, or pro-terrorist, activity on the Internet. This activity also made it easier to spot potential terrorists or potential informants."

Yeah. I remember a lot of trolls were out when Bernie sanders was running against Hillary. They kept putting out half-a$$ed stories/posts about him. Just remember trolls some people have long memories.

Oh also folks. Always remember trolls are usually the biggest Hypocrites out there.

Exclamation Hang on a second... what about media?

As much as Time magazine hates how the internet is being ruined by free lancers (aka trolls), what about our frustration with the continued lower quality of articles the print ( what's left) and newspapers are publishing online? Some newspapers are only linking videos to report the news. How lazy is that?

Go read an article on the Barron or wall street journal for articles that are longer than one page.

As much as Trolls are getting a bad name, where's the shame in the decline in those that actually get paid to write articles? If Time gets any thinner, they can start to charge the postcard rate for mail delivery.

The biggest problem is that there's too many people who call other posters 'trolls' if they disagree with them and can't win an argument fair and square, so they just figure i'll call them a troll, the 'trolling' is a very small percentage, most of it though it just non-trolls getting called trolls by people who are getting crushed in an argument and have no other response.

"Just remember trolls some people have long memories"

Is this a warning to trolls or warning us [trolls??] that some people have good memories?

Agreed. In a way: IMHO between 1995 and 2002 was the "golden age"; even with 56K dialup modems, Pentium 100, Windows 95/98 and so on. Back then surfing the web was fun even if it took a "1,000 years" to down load a big jpeg pic.

Probably to see what storm front was about. I haven't looked at that despicable site in years; I'm "white" and proud of it but, SF's stupid ass "white power" racism is very insulting to me.
