jmgg - Kaep has never claimed the flag was offensive, to the best of my knowledge. Protesting during the National Anthem doesn't mean you actually have a problem with the anthem itself - or the flag for that matter.
Have you ever bothered to listen to what he's actually saying? He has gone out of his way to say this is NOT a protest against the military or service members.
TITLE 36 United States Code §170. National anthem; Star-Spangled Banner
The composition consisting of the words and music known as The Star-Spangled Banner is designated the national anthem of the United States of America.
§171. Conduct during playing
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, ALL PRESENT EXCEPT THOSE IN UNIFORM SHOULD STAND AT ATTENTION FACING THE FLAG WITH THE RIGHT HAND OVER THE HEART. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there.
I never denied there was a racial element. I disputed that it was PRIMARILY motivated by race. Of course there is a racial element - race is at the center of the issue he's protesting.
Do you even read my posts, or are you being intentionally misleading about my position?
Then I have no idea why you are following me around like a lost puppy if you're trying to argue unimportant semantics.
Take a knee during the national anthem = anti-America
Boo the Commander in Chief, while a video presentation of him paying tribute to 9/11 victims on 9/11 = no biggie.
Such pathetic hypocrites.
In this context I would agree with you. There is very little about Obama I like. I support what Kaepernick is saying but I would have let it go on this one day.
I don't even feel about 9/11 as do the majority (it was our fault and have ourselves to blame as much as anyone) but I would have still let it go yesterday.
Then I have no idea why you are following me around like a lost puppy if you're trying to argue unimportant semantics.
Saying that Rapinoe got off lightly, compared to Kaep, because of her skin color is not "unimportant semantics".
Further, I'm not "following you around" like anything - don't flatter yourself. If you don't want to continue this conversation, stop responding to my posts. Simple.

Kaepernick slammed both Clinton and Trump in his interviews. Trump is cited for his plan to build the wall to keep out Mexicans and his plan to keep out Muslims. Hence, he made his comment about this society being hostile to persons of color. He also cited Hillary Clinton for calling black kids 'super-predators'. The media edited out those remarks from the interview which can be found online on the NFL web site.
