Kaepernick's biggest error was exercising his freedom of expression in a setting where the spectators are not particularly known for understanding the nuances of civil rights.

There is no twisting. He criticizes Kaepernick when his whole campaign (or lack thereof) was focused on the idea that America went wrong, and that it needs to return to greatness.

So what is it? You can't just say America isn't great and then engage in patriotism/jingoism for political reasons, these ideas fundamentally clash. Trump in this regard starts to sound more like a clown than he already is.

Besides, the player who claimed this happened is black and said that he wasn't offender. Additionally, Kaepernick can say it because he's black.
Great, he was fined for "unsportsmanlike conduct" is that better?

Houston has now said that yes, Kaepernick called him the N-word.

And to save you the backbreaking task of trying to spin this....yes, this happened as well:

The Tribune said when asked if he was insulted by it, Houston said it was a “cultural thing.”
Which still doesn't make it right, at ALL. If a black person or Jewish person used a horrible racial slur in any other workplace to describe someone of the same race/ethnicity, it would still be horribly frowned upon.

As for Trump, he isn't going to get black votes by slamming a person that is doing this to bring more light to modern civil rights issues.
When you work for an employer for a wage, you represent them. You're no longer on your own time. This reminds me of the Home Depot chick who wore a "America Was Never Great". People get fired for certain things like this. If the Niners are fine with the behavior, they're to blame. Hopefully they'll cut his ass for embarrassing the organization.

It would also be illegal. Racial discrimmination does not recognize culture as a mitigating factor.

The San Francisco Police Officers Association is unhappy with the recent comments Colin Kaepernick made about law enforcement corruption, and the organization is demanding an apology.

In a letter addressed to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and 49ers president and CEO Jed York, SFPOA president Martin Halloran ripped Kaepernick for his “foolish statement” about the law enforcement profession.

“While we certainly acknowledge Mr. Kaepernick’s first amendment right to remain seated during the National Anthem, as inappropriate as that may be, we will not stand by while he attacks police officers in this country with statements such as, ‘People are on paid leave while people of color are killed,” Halloran wrote in the letter....

Asshat Kaepernick. May the buckets of criticism continue to rain on this lousy, spoiled, grandstanding, idiot QB's head.

Funny thing is that the QB said HRC should have been in jail for her emails. He dont like Hilary . He could have made an outreach to him.

You're welcome. The difference between 'police kill more blacks than whites' without adding 'per their population' isn't semantics. It's the difference between right and wrong. Anyway, I'm glad you know how you wrote it is wrong.

Krappernick refusing to stand for the anthem has less to do with his religion or other reasons, and mostly to do with his narcissism, a characteristic which runs rampant among rich celebrities/athlete's with much too much money and time on their hands, and an inflated sense of self importance.

Just 3 years ago, he was anointed as the next great quarterback in the league, one win away from a Superbowl title.

Now, he's a washed up has been, the target of numerous trade rumors.

When you're in a situation like he is in, what better way to inflate your ego and narcissism by doing something you absolutely KNOW will inflame controversy. Just like those morons who burn the flag or disrespect the military, it's all a calculated attempt to get the attention they so crave.

And it worked like a charm. The twitterverse has exploded and everyone and their brother is out to condemn or praise krappernick. He's now more relevant than even when he was at his playing peak.

He knew what he was doing, and everyone played right into his hands.

So utterly predictable.
