An extremely brash GOPer who loves to cross the line. Comes as no surprise that he's a big Trump supporter. His daughter is doing some work for Trump's campaign.

So when he thought one Democrat lawmaker, Drew Gattine, called him a racist, he responded thusly:

Target of explicit LePage voicemail denies calling him a racist - CNNPolitics.com

Quote:
"Mr. Gattine, this is Gov. Paul Richard LePage," the audio recording says. "I would like to talk to you about your comments about my being a racist, you (obscene term). I want to talk to you. I want you to prove that I'm a racist. I've spent my life helping black people and you little (obscene term), socialist (obscene term). You -- I need you to -- just friggin'. I want you to record this and make it public because I am after you. Thank you.
Then he doubled down on it with threats to kill Gattine:

Quote:
When a snot-nosed little guy from Westbrook calls me a racist, now I'd like him to come up here because, tell you right now, I wish it were 1825," LePage said, according to the Press Herald. "And we would have a duel, that's how angry I am, and I would not put my gun in the air, I guarantee you, I would not be (Alexander) Hamilton. I would point it right between his eyes, because he is a snot-nosed little runt and he has not done a damn thing since he's been in this Legislature to help move the state forward."
Now it's a big scandal and he's walking back what he said and is supposedly considering resignation as he gets condemned from both sides for his unprofessional responses.

And this is not a first. Read up on him and you'll find he is well-known for homophobic slurs, nepotism (hired his own daughter and in-law to work for him), past threats of violence, connection with fringe right-wingers (look up him and Sovereign Citizen Movement) and just a lot of dumb over-the-line insults coming out of his mouth.

Remind you of anyone?

This is the base case for Trump's presidency, and there is only risk of it going worse from there. This is what happens when you elect people to office who don't have the temperament to behave like rational adults.

What does any of this have to do with Trump or LePage?

And since when did being against Trump mean being for Clinton?

I don't see what this has to do with Trump. Let's be honest, there are some wacky people supporting both candidates

I can't tolerate the nepotism, but the rest of that is great. This should be the standard response whenever a leftist speaks.
