You have to be kidding me. Obviously you are not a hunter or do any work around varmints.
As for self defense, the unarmed man usually loses. Eradication is not the answer. It makes the innocent the victim and empowers the aggressor.
Obviously I am NOT a hunter, since we have domesticated animals for slaughter, there is no need to hunt. As for self-defense, I've already successfully defending myself on a number of occasions without using a weapon.
Funny definition for socialism, but it's clearly what most people want in the United States.
That's because majority of Americans today are fat, dumb and lazy... they'd rather be taken care of in any way they can instead of doing for themselves accepting responsibility and accountability !

We in MT hunt to put food on the table and help manage wildlife. Two birds with one stone... And I'd like to watch you defend yourself against a Grizzly Bear one day without a gun while on a family nature hike or camping in our fine State. That would be a hoot . If I had the privilege to watch such a scene, I'd probably laugh at first due to your stupidity. Then I'd tell a ranger where to find what's left of you... Maybe !

The thing that aggravates me about TKramer is that they insist that EVERYONE lives the way they choose to live.
We are not out telling everyone that HAVE to have a weapon, but I'm not going to let someone tell me that I can't have them myself.
Just because I grew up hunting, fishing, and shooting, doesn't give them the right to tell me that people that use firearms have mental problems and try to force their way on responsible, law abiding people that use firearms.
On a lighter note, your bear comment reminds me of the old tale about identifying bear scat. Black bear scat is real sloppy, kind of like a pile of jelly, and Grizzly scat is the same except it has little bells in it and smells like pepper spray!

TK would probably try and use his feet and fists against that grizzly, and if that didnt work he would probably try and talk it our of eating him.
heck eating TK would be bad for the bears health, probably get indegestion.
Having a gun wouldn't keep another person from shooting you, if they were themselves armed. But how do you know that there was ANY intention of doing you harm, oh paranoid ones? When you shoot your kid for sneaking into the house...yeah, paranoia is a bad thing.
There are protocols around my house, my kids know to call out at the door if they are coming home late, if they are in their rooms in the middle of the nite and I call out they will go to the fartherest corner and wait. It's called responsibility.

One of the most basic rules of firearms safety is "Know Your Target." This doesn't mean to shoot at those you know, but rather, to be certain about what you are shooting.
A follow up to that rule is "Know what's beyond your target." Obviously, bullets travel until something stops them. In the case of a miss, you don't want one of your loved ones getting hit because they were behind the intruder. The shooter needs to know what will be hit if he misses the targetl

the second point you make goes hand in hand with the type of ammo you choose as well. hollow point ammo is going to mushroom out far before it exits the target, you will most certainly stop the target, as well as increasing protection for anything beyond that target as well.
Kind of funny how soo many that call for restrictions on guns, are very ignorant of them and the practices put into place by millions and millions of Law abiding citizens each day.
