You really can not grant China full respect. Recall how the present China was formed. The so called cultural revolution in part was the murdering of millions of their best and brightest and most successful people..this left a genetic deficit that lingers to this day. There leadership is cold and harsh...not necessarily intelligent.
You can not on mass genocide your most successful citizens and expect a nation to grow out of such an action...China is still a backward place that generates garbage product and dirties the air to the point that it is unbreathable....this is NOT a successful place.

Ever tried getting onto a bus or airplane (with assigned seating, mind you) amongst a group of Chinese? Try either of those activities to get a firsthand dose of World Re-known Chinese Rudeness.
Therefore, their lack of civility or respect towards a foreign dignitary should be of no surprise to anyone, especially for those who've had the "classless" unforgettable experience of being amongst a group of Chinese.
Having lived during the Soviet Communist Empire I never thought I would see the day Russia would actually be the good guy--let alone China which has some bad human rights records--and the US and Westetn Europe be the horns of Satan and the leaders of evil in the world.

I think the real point is that while the left (and the leftists pretending to be republicans) gnash their teeth and wring their hands over the prospect of crazy Trump being president, we have this brigade of bafoons who can't even clear the airport before angering their hosts in a foreign nation. That it is China makes it more worrisome, given the level of tensions in the region already.
And yes, Obama has indeed displayed both weakness and arrogance. It just depends on the audience.
I don't know the exact details but it began with a Chinese official yelling this is our country, I don't recall that happening in a visit to any other country. China is responsible for the increased tensions with it's neighbors by building military bases on islands while doing little to corral in North Korea.
What exactly the weakness or the arrogance displayed, maybe you can offer some details.

Ever since over a hundred years ago western enterprisers ... who were trading with China decided to double their profits by bringing in tons of opium that destroyed China's budding youth at the time....Dear old China has no respect for the west or anything white. They now ship in tons of synthetic opiates along with a lot of designer drugs....If China could press a button and make the west disappear they would....so what is Obama surprised at the cold reception...
