I'm guessing, no -- they would go buy something made in China and grouse about the 'high prices' at Ashley.
Throw rocks if you must but you know I'm right.

And I am NOT advocating for cheap labor. I am simply saying we as a nation of consumers buy the lesser priced options and force the producers to cut corners where ever they can or lose business
If CEO's can be paid millions of dollars a year and the price of furniture not go up then paying employees 3 or 4$ more an hour sure in the hell won't cause it to go up. I can't people still believe that crap.

I can't believe that anyone would try to get by with paying less than $15/hour in California.

We'll be receiving a lot of those jobs here in Mississippi and WE pay more than that - at least for experienced people.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The OPS article was from Breitbart, blames climate change and the minimum wage increase but I see no statement indicating such by the company. Here is a better source with a statement but not sure what that means. No statement by the company relative to minimum wage, those were Breitbart's words, smells like BS.

In a statement, the company said moving production will allow the company to "tap into existing capacity and increase efficiency.”

I wonder how many of the 840 were making $15 per hour if that was in fact the reason.

There is no good reason for the ridiculous CEO's salaries. It is nuts! It is unethical. I don't understand it. That, however, is not what this thread is discussing.

I'm sure that's what the republican handlers have told the gullible masses.

Oh but its the very LIE they are trying to claim. They want to claim because of the 15$ min wage its why the company is closing in California when if that was the case the CEO making MILLIONS would have already bankrupted them. Its a lie to pin the problem on the working man and woman that wants to be able to provide for their family.

Let's look at the corporate statement fromyour link:

“We thank our employees for all their hard work, but closing these plants on Oct. 25 and rebalancing our manufacturing mix strengthens production capability and cost structure and will help ensure Ashley’s continued ability to compete effectively long-term in the global marketplace from a U.S. base,”

The increased minimum wage and climate change crap certainly could not have helped.

Companies do not have any obligations to stay in business if they dont want to. They can choose to downsize for whatever reason or no reason at all.
