Philippines President calls Obama SOB Obama threatens to cancel meeting
Good call to cancel. The Philipino guy is a murderer and insults everyone he sees, even the Pope.

I don't necessarily disagree with Duterte clamping down on drug lords and their gangs, we should probably do some of that here too. But, being disrespectful with the president of the country that gives you millions a year in foreign aid, is bad diplomacy.

Actually places like Iran who are tough in drugs have large numbers of users. Besides, this guy is not murdering just traffickers, but also street users.

This kind of stuff cannot be condoned.

If you want US to gun down every user, including pot smokers, we are talking about a lot of Americans to be killed, several million. How can you think that is a good idea?

Sounds like the President of the Philippine's is either not getting what he considers his share of the drug money or is just protecting his gang's monopoly.

Admittedly I do not have as controlled a temper as President Obama (massive understatement) but If I had been insulted in that matter I would have placed an embargo on ALL trade by ANYONE with the Philippines until he was thrown out of, better, hanged by his own people.

Yes, every president receives some of that stuff. Remember how Chavez kept insulting Bush, or Castro insulting every US president for 50 years.

Some people argue that if someone insults you, then it means you are weak. Have you heard of a dumber argument? People who resort to insults have no class. Period. Ignoring them is the best approach.

An embargo over an insult sounds like something Trump would do, but it will do nothing but make Philippines turn to China. The Chinese are already expanding their influence in that area, so it would not be a very good idea.

I wasn't talking about supporting the policy, pk. I was talking about rebuking, rather than applauding a personal insult against The President Of The United States of America by some foreign national, and all the people here thinking it was great.

When Obama was elected SE Asia was happy, they believed that Obama was going to change the way the USA did business. They weren't alone either. Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize. He didn't do a thing to earn it, but the hope was that he would. The hope was that with Obama in charge the USA would stop dictating to others how to run their countries.
Well if anything it got worse. Thailand defied Obama when it came to Muslim refugees. We tarred and feathered Thailand. Now Thailand a long time ally is turning to China.
The PI a long time US ally. Yes we have had our ups and downs with the PI. Mostly due to our supporting a very corrupt administration. I wonder who the PI will turn to?
