Well, that certainly was a successful little visit Donald Trump paid to Mexico, wasn't it !! He isn't even close to winning the WH yet, and he has pissed off a country we are not even unfriendly with.
Yeah, the Mexicans are blowing smoke, but it is symbolic. They are simply saying they detest Trump so much that they had to say something. This is only the beginning, he has the unique ability to alienate everyone he deals with. I can just see how well he would do in negotiations with countries who do not like us to start with............and some of those countries have missiles aimed in our direction.
Don
The problem with that thinking is we have the same or more missiles pointed at them so its irrelevant. If they are deranged enough to launch then trump is not going to provoke or stop them.
This is an amazing statement by a Mexico politico -- it essentially says - "Trump knows what he is talking about" - the USA does have leverage against Mexico. For whatever reason - the President of Mexico decided to go 'head to head' in a meeting with Trump .... and he LOST.
The goal is to foresee and prevent any negative effects on Mexico if Trump becomes president of the United States,” he said.
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (Tratado de Guadalupe Hidalgo in Spanish), officially entitled the Treaty of Peace, Friendship, Limits and Settlement between the United States of America and the Mexican Republic, is the peace treaty signed on February 2, 1848, in the Villa de Guadalupe Hidalgo (now a neighborhood of Mexico City) between the United States and Mexico that ended the Mexican–American War (1846–48).
With the defeat of its army and the fall of its capital, Mexico entered into negotiations to end the war. The treaty called for the U.S. to pay $15 million to Mexico and to pay off the claims of American citizens against Mexico up to $3.25 million. It gave the United States the Rio Grande as a boundary for Texas, and gave the U.S. ownership of California and a large area comprising roughly half of New Mexico, most of Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado. Mexicans in those annexed areas had the choice of relocating to within Mexico's new boundaries or receiving American citizenship with full civil rights. Over 90% chose to become U.S. citizens.
The U.S. Senate ratified the treaty by a vote of 38–14. The opponents of this treaty were led by the Whigs, who had opposed the war and rejected Manifest Destiny in general, and rejected this expansion in particular.
NOW ..... the claim by this Mexican Legislator is that this REALLY important Treaty with the United States, after a WAR that Mexico LOST .... can be wiped out because Mexico doesn't like Donald Trump?
Really????
Mexico is willing to go to WAR against the USA if the Citizens of the USA Elect a President that Mexico disagrees with? Really??
1) I doubt it.
2) How insulting - do we tell Mexico who they can elect? I know that Obama involves himself in telling the Brits and the Israelis how to vote - but most Foreign Nations don't say they are "going to WAR" against the USA over an Election.
3) Mexico is scared to death to have a US President that won't Roll Over and beg for their approval & give them everything they demand.
This is an "Nothing Burger" -- but the Left's favorite food is "Nothing Burgers" (vegetarian of course)
Upon re-reading I now see my mistake and have realized some Mexican official actually did propose the cancellation of the treaty and cannot think anything other than their leadership is becoming even more fractured than imagined.
Pretty sure the Mexican army would surrender to the Salvation army.

Basically, the Big Red One out of Ft. Riley could roll to Guatamala in about a week, or less.
if mexico tries to take over texas, they will likely be sent packing by the texas rangers. remember one riot one ranger?
as for the mexican military, four divisions of marines should do the trick against them, and support them with two seal teams out of coronado, as well as a couple of force recon teams. and support all of them with the air wings out of davis monthan and luke AFBs, and it should be over in a matter of a few weeks, and mexico would be a free country once again.
