I don't see anything as to why they were there, but can't imagine why anyone would want to go. My brother had to be there some years back before troops were withdrawn a couple of times a year for business, and he was always with a military escort. I didn't want him to go then and he got to the point where he stopped telling me he was going. He wouldn't travel there now--even if he was told to. I hope all the hostages can be rescued, but that is not likely to happen.

Like any employed worker he (Obama)is entitled to some time off once in a while, if something important happens while he is playing golf its kinda a cheap shot to then paint the picture that he doesnt care and was instead playing golf, he also probably sleeps 8 hours a night if something happens during that time do we now make the story that he was sleeping?

The OP makes it sound like they canceled the mission because Obama was on vacation. Talking about bearing false witness.

Every article I have read on this incident makes it quite clear that if forces on the ground believe that hostages are in danger they can go in immediately without waiting for approval from higher up authority. The reason why they dident go in is because they dident know if the hostages were even there. It could have been another Son Tay (1970 attack on a North Vietnamese prison camp only to find that the North Vietnamese had moved the prisoners some weeks earlier, the CIA "forgot" to tell the Army SF troops).

I'm glad you think that is funny - ther are a lot of articles about how Obama insists on Micro-Managing the Military. They DO have get his permission, the WP even says that, as have other articles.

The SEAL Team had the Presidential OK to look for the Hostages, but the Golfer In Chief still had to give the OK for them to move in. He was too busy, busy, busy that day. When he got around to it the next day - it was too late. I'm pretty sure the families of those Hosstages do NOT share your amusement .

Neither do most Americans

R-i-i-i-i-ght...

The SEALs were all ready to go, just waiting for Obama's OK. The military always needs presidential approval for all of their operations.

Carry on.

And ten thousand conservatives react as if the operation wasn't approved because the President was on vacation. Which is what Breitbart set out to accomplish, so yay.

Sorry I have to disagree. If you are the CinC you don't get time off. If something goes down while you are on your vacation, then you have to be on top of it. It's like managing your household. The pipe under the sink busts, you can't tell it that you can't do anything because you are on vacation, it has to be tended to. Just like a sick child. You can't tell them you are on vacation, they have to be taken care of.
