It is hard to believe that the terrible tragic events of September 11th happened 15 years ago.
As the anniversary approaches I trust... I should say "pray" that our Government is on top of any threat round the world.
We all need to be extra aware any day of the week but especially this Sunday.
9/11 really did change everything.
Like February 26, 1993, when someone, with a set court date for entering the country illegally, drove a truck bomb under the North Tower. Yes, be aware that our Government is so blogged down, with regulations, that it can't always protect us.
no, no one is fearful or living in fear....911 was real, it happened, and it will happen again, and actually has happened around the world....it will in fact happen again, b/c we didn't get serious about securing our borders and we actually can't when in fact people from all over the world own our real estate.
The TSA was created because of 911 and fear. And they suck. I won't fly anymore because of them. And securing borders don't mean anything. US citizens have become terrorists.
What it would've taken to stop it is to talk about the box cutters as the planes flew without them. You don't arrest them, charge them or anything else. You just talk to them as their planes fly without them. Then you put them on 19 different flights and you don't have 9/11.
They also could have done what Israel did decades ago....strengthen the cockpit doors. The hijackers may have killed some passengers but they wouldn't have been able to take over the planes. But I suppose the airline bean counters wanted to save a few bucks.
I was at my desk in the Pentagon on 9-11, 5th Floor, Tenth Corridor (other side of the building). I'm not currently in the area, or I would be visiting the memorial tomorrow.
Well, THAT'S close enough. Geez. What did you see from there?
Made it a little past the walkway and saw a big flash in the sky. Made a U-turn, headed back to the tunnel and back to Brooklyn.
