People dissing the parents need to keep in mind that much of today's current heroin problem was caused because many people were given legal painkillers by doctors that lead them to become heroin addicts.

Hope they serve years in jail, and never see the kid again. Or any kid.

The Pharmaceuticals do have a lot to answer for, but the heroin problem in that part of the country isn't due to that. I don't understand the mentality of someone that does that in front of the kid though, but to each their own.

I was given legal painkillers by doctors. Never became an addict. Used up that prescription and went back to beer and margaritas.

This picture has been causing a stir on the internet and Facebook. The first pic posted by the East Liverpool OH PD on their FB page didnt have the child face blurred. Subsequent pics have had his pic blurred. Lots of folks having issues with showing the kids pic un-blurred for identification and perhaps later issues in his life.

But yes the woman is his grandmother and man her friend or significant other. The car they were in stopped behind a school bus and then they drove erractly before stopping. I am unsure of the exact nature of what occurred on the road. The police found drugs in the car and they were given narcon and were not dead...the police saved their lives. The kid was taken away from this young mom, who was also an addict, and given to his grandma's custody. From my reading the car had PA license plates. East Liverpool is very near the border.

The boy has since been taken away and is in CPS custody and I read recently given custody to a family member in South Carolina (according to the police FB page).

That pic is horrifying to me and was posted on the PD FB page for that reason as that communities as many are are suffering from a huge crisis. I find it appalling the adults would even consider putting the kid in that situation. The kid deserves to be put into a good home and prays he comes out ok as he is still young. As for the adults....it is quite hard for me to have sympathy for them.

Heroin, meth and so on NEED to stay illegal since many people "on the fence" won't touch it, then.

OTOH: marijuana IMHO needs to be just an infraction for small amounts if talking rec use.

Lame excuses. "someone else's fault." The jump to injecting is ten fold.
