umm the inspiration was Brzezinski under Pres. Carter
reagan slowed it as he was not the globalist that his VP was, but his VP (bush1)_ was a student of BRZEZINSKI...bush1 NEGOIATED it..but after he left office it was DEAD IN THE WATER...CLINTON PUSHED it through a DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED CONGRESS and signed it on dec 1993
Sorry to bust your bubble. Nafta is a neoliberal trade organization supported by both democrats and Republicans. Nafta itself was envisioned by Ronald Reagan, push by Bush 1 under his frame work and signed into affect by Clinton.
Mexico has more free trade agreements with the rest of the world than any other country.
It makes Mexico a very attractive spot for assembly and manufacture.
Once you do not have enough native industries to employ the population you bring in outside businesses. That is how States here in the USA do it to attract employers from other States.
You can start by thinking, "What if my job was outsourced?" But of course those who have difficulty with this concept say to themselves, "My job can never be outsourced" so, seldom cross that bridge.
Frankly, I would be more concerned about my job being replaced by technology than it being outsourced.
No you didn't. The president does pick who he wants for the Supreme Court. He doesn't automatically get that pick confirmed but it is indeed the president that picks.
Companies exist to make a profit. If they don't they will eventually cease to exist. That is just capitalism 101.
To make a profit, companies must either raise prices or cut costs. They can only raise prices so much without losing market share.
To cut costs, they can either send jobs to lower wage places like Mexico, or they can replace their employees with robots. Both are happening today; whining about it won't change anything.
Total B.S. What jobs are millions and millions of people suppose to go back to school to learn? Are we to train 100 million engineer's when 100 million engineers are not needed? Maybe 100 million new lawyers? 100 million what?
Always these generalizations. "Go back to school". To do what exactly? And no, because this will work for a small percentage of people does not mean it will work for the country overall.
Good post.
While I would recommend college for everyone who wants it, the truth is if everyone went to college then the value of a college education would decline because everyone and their Uncle would have one. A college degree would become like a High School diploma is now, not so much a good thing but a requirement. Associates and Bachelors degrees would become essentially worthless, it would require everyone to go on to a Masters degree or higher just to be able to stand out enough to get into a job interview.
But it still comes down to the fact is where are these jobs going to be for all these people with college degrees? Don't people realize that if we continue to loose our blue collar jobs then we will not need as many white collar workers? That we will not need for example, as many managers, accountants, auditors, administrators etc. and so on down the line. And the loss of blue collar jobs affects many small businesses as well.
IIRC Ford made a big PR event of the 2015 Mustang being designed by input by teams from around the world. The new Mustang was designed to have global appeal. I notice some diehard Mustang fans dislike the new look due to appearing too Euro or Nipponish.
Kemal Curic was the stylist that proposed the new look, he was from Germany. Once management approved his design, he relocated to Dearborn. Doyle Letson was responsible for the interior theme, and he is at the Dearborn studio. The only global input was for the external styling. I think this is common practice at Ford, their global styling teams come up with a theme and management here in Dearborn picks one, the rest is done here.

He picks a nominee , is this not correct ? The nominee then has to be approved...I get it.

There is no way it's significantly cheaper to ship a refrigerator across an ocean from China than build one here. Even if an employee is replaced by a robot, someone has to be hired to maintain and program that robot.
