The wall has dropped illegal immigration down to a trickle, so yes, it can work. If they want to die in the desert, fine. We only need a wall near the large urban centers where it is too easy to cross.
The wall north or south hasnt been built yet so i'm not getting how its reducing illegal immigration.
And assuming this wall is built its full of holes called legal entry points.IMO trumps wall will do little to reduce illegals in the US.
a) Right up against the river on every loop and cut off the fertile farmland from the water?
b) In the middle of the river?
c) A straighter wall across the top of the loops - cutting off farmers from their crops? Eminent domain - forcing farmers to "sell" and then let that land go to waste - a no man's land?
Texas border residents have little good to say about the existing sections of Trump's Wall. They point out that there are 1000 miles of border to wall off - and that's if you accept the common thought that the other 1000 miles is not passable, anyway so there is no need to wall that off.
Mexicans call it "El Berlin". That will get worse if it is expanded, I think, and I am against an expansion of this useless enterprise. After all, it has stopped almost no one. Last year the Border Patrol captured 147,247 illegals. Double what it was in 2009.
The "Let em wait in line" crowd is uninformed; there is no line. The "send 'em all back" crowd is equally uninformed; they have not figured out a way to find illegals and local law enforcement are prevented from asking the question of citizenship.
FTR: I am a Johnson supporter, and believe that immigration rules and laws should be completely re-written.
That portion of " The Wall" that currently exists is the Bush Wall.
It contains serious large gaps which were deemed necessary to accommodate various Special Interest Goups including but not limited to golf courses, gated HOAs, a university, resorts and private land of the riich and not so famous.
Some ordinary owners declined to accept the financial offers and litigated. Some properties were condemned for settlement. Some of these situations are still being appealed.
A future extention of the wall will require an Act of Congress and funding.
So long as US small business employers are hiring with no consequences, people will come, wall or not.
So long as the US population has an insatiable demand for drugs, they will find a way in, including some Border Patrol that looks the other way.
Who cares what you name the wall as long as we build it. The only reason a wall would not work, is if we have a lame Leadership that will not let Police enforce immigration. Police should be allowed to verify Citizenship, and hold you until you can prove citizenship, and should be allowed to stop you on just that suspicion.
Sanctuary Cities/ counties: Hundreds of cities/ counties have long opted out of helping ICE.

Part of using e verify and employer Mandates. Deportation of criminals, its all part of the process. the wall is the first line of defense.

Johnson supporter here as well.
I realized a long time ago that "the wall" is basically little more than red meat for those who live in perpetual fear of Brown people (ie: a large portion of Trump's base). Secondly the wall itself is a pipedream for a variety of economic, geographic, constitutional, and ecological reasons.
The most effective tools to stop illegal immigration are 1) mandatory E-Verify and 2) reforming the immigration system to allow people to immigrate legally.
I thought it was probably their best and most cohesive studio effort of the '70s with the "original" lineup. Standout tracks for me include "Mother" and "Is There Anybody out There?", but really, the whole album is a masterpiece.

Attempting to come up with solutions for illegal immigration is considered fearing brown people?
What is there to reform? People are allowed to immigrate here, it is just these people do not want to do it the legal way, they and their supporters think they are special for some reason.
