I appreciate you being honest enough to admit that this is actually about blocking the will of the British people to Leave the EU as expressed through the 2016 Brexit referendum, and not about this "No deal" malarky.
And the Remainers will turn that around and suggest it is an attempt to implement that which is actually desired by a majority of the British at present.

Boris Johnson has just risen to call for an election. He has told the UK Parliament that the UK will still leave and on October 31 and that he will not request an extension from the EU.
Obviously, if the opposition objects to this, then they have the option of pursuing a general election.

I think the opposition would rather just legislate to prohibit Boris from pushing through a no-deal Brexit. They know that him calling for an election is a trap, if they voted for it he could then move the date to November 7 (first Thursday after Brexit day) so that his no deal Brexit happens while parliament is dissolved for the election campaign.
Parliament is dissolved 25 working days before a general election, so if an election was voted for, Boris could set the date as November 7 (or even October 31 I guess) meaning parliament would be dissolved early October, and by the time it reconvened after the election Brexit would already have happened

Johnson indicated that he would not request any extension past October 31, regardless if what legislation Parliament passes. The higher authority is the verdict from the public referendum choosing to Leave the EU.
If the opposition has a problem with that, the answer is to hold a general election and force Boris into the back benches.
