We've come so far and yet have gone no where.

People today don't have thick skins and are like snowflakes that need safe zones.

IMO if Japan bombed Pearl Harbor today, the general public would not be lining up to enlist, but
would be lining up to apologize to Japan for upsetting them.

Lets see how long until someone gets offended and this thread is either deleted or closed.

Listen to Trump's blatherings - he's the voice of old white America - the bigotry and xenophobia are still there. Archie Bunker lives.

Geez OP...can't you be a little more original than this? Another "I hate political correctness" thread by another title?

SMH...OK, I'll play along. Yeah...America was SO much better 40 years ago!

Now back to binge watching Mad Men!

Think how good it must have been in 1850 when we could not only insult people we could own them too.

Why does it seem like intolerance is a white male thing in this country?

Did it begin with Manifest Destiny when European men raged across the country, killing everyone who opposed their land grab?

No, I don't believe we have gone nowhere. I think we are trying to find better ways to live in peace and that in essence, is what the American experience represents (and conscience human evolution)...the opportunity to do better. Not just buy a bigger house or faster car or shoot someone who disagrees with you.

Have we become permissive? Maybe because we are a free people, we allow people to try and work on their problems and try to give the resources to do that. With people who have no integrity, they take more than their fair share. This has happened with the welfare class but it also happens with big banks and people like Donald Trump.

Addiction to power, money and drugs is fueling the deterioration of our society and depleting resources. We are spending a lot of time and money trying to keep people from killing themselves and allowing someone like Trump to abuse the bankruptcy system.

I see this as a human flaw, that needs to be overcome.

Ok, but the same generation that is wondering why ****** isn't being said on TV anymore also thinks millennials say **** too often and get mad when a homosexual relationship is seen on TV.

What constitutes as taboo changes all the time. If that's news to you it's because you're not paying attention. Things change. Welcome to reality. This has never not been the case.

Forty short years ago, birth control was illegal, pregnancy out of wedlock was still shameful, young men were subject to the draft unless they were in college or were married with children.
Your mother didn't work outside the home, and your dad kept the same job for 40+ years. Television was pathetic, but we didn't know any better. People were optimistic and trusted each other.
There is good and bad in every era.
