I think Hawaiians should look at the world with a measure of pragmatism, they need to realize that Hawaii’s future is part of the United States, not as being an individual nation.
Agreed and; either China or Russia would gobble up Hawaii real fast IMHO.

If the US didn't annex Hawaii then the Japanese would have. It was the presence of Japanese warships in Hawaii that compelled US businessmen to get the US government involved. If not for the US, then all Hawaiians would be speaking Japanese now. I can't say that would have been a better situation.

Look the US was a compromise of 13 colonies in their attempt to break away from British rule. The most pragmatic thing to do is use the institutions they created to run Hawaii the way you like. So then I can expect you all to roll back Federal power?

Let me ask this, how many businesses are under actual Hawaiian control and how many are under Asian control? Exactly how would creating a separate Hawaii work given the amount of foreigners who mostly own the islands?
