This Duterte fellow is really starting to irritate me. He is basically an out of control lunatic promoting wanton violence, and not to mention that he is putting our strategic interests at risk by snuggling up with China and Russia.
I predict that this guy ends up like Mussolini ... strung up from a lamppost by his own people. And I think it's going to happen alot sooner than people think. The average Filipino is very pro-American, they are not going to tolerate this Chinese stooge for very long.

The Thailand regime in power is currently floating the idea of legalizing amphetamine/speed use. Previous Thai governments have waged a bloody war against drugs (similar to the PI now), and lots of shady killings as mentioned above. Nothing else seems to work, why not legalize it.

The racial eugenic views of Adolf Hitler were widely held views in the United States and Western Europe during the 1930s. In fact, Catholic intellectuals opposed these views (abortion among them as the Nazis were pro-abortion for certain groups) and were routinely ridiculed by liberal American intellectuals and liberal European intellectuals as being "unscientific" and being "backwards" and "standing in the way of progress." No different in tone and accusation than today.
By Catholic intellectuals I'm talking about laity like G.K. Chesterton and Hailer Belloc. (spelling?)
So how did the racist eugenics views of Adolf Hitler become "evil" to white and black liberals of the United States when both the liberal intellectual classes of whites and blacks in the 1930s USA had the same scientific attitudes towards improving their respective races genetic pools?
I don't hear much from this current Pope regarding the President of the Phillippines or his happy desire to execute 3 million drug addicts in the Phillippines. But this current Pope advocates nations keep drugs illegal, maintain a drug war de facto, but don't do the same for homosexuality or gay marriage. I guess he gets greater political stock out pleading one not be criminalized and the other does. I mean... times change, and why do the right thing for the sake of it being right, when you can wait for times to change and then follow along rather than having led in the first place.
So, let me "lead" and say it before the Pope: the war on drugs needs to end. And rather, at minimum drug addiction needs to be decriminalized, treated as a medical and public health issue (like alcoholism and self created diabetes), akin to what socialist Portugal does. And Lisbon the largest city in Portugal is not only safer than (and drug addicts can smoke crack, even outside) say Chicago and New Orleans but it's safer than London and every capital city in Western Europe.
The Philippines.. Isn't that one of those countries where it is illegal to be gay so the leader wanting to take a page from Hitlers play book shouldn't surprise us.
The Philippines is also one of those places where you would not want to be locked up in the nasty prison.
I can understand why a poor country would want to do away with the scourge of drugs both users and dealers, it is costing them a fortune.
It costs Americans a fortune to Police, arrest try and imprison those involved and treat the addicts.
The answer is not to kill those involved with drugs but stop them from getting them in the first place.
In the end there is no viable answer but comparing oneself to Hitler is stupid.
I'm not sure active homosexuality is punishable by imprisonment in the Phillippines.
But in medical terms what makes you so sure homosexuality is more healthy than all or every form of substance addiction? Alcoholism is the worse. And alcoholism is worse than heroin in the long term destruction to organs in the body. But HIV rate among homosexuals in the US exceeds the HIV rate even among IV heroin addicts in the United States. But male-to-female transsexuals have a staggering HIV rate that makes IV heroin users look like they have a small rate of HIV. If memory services me correct something like 80 percent of all male-to-female transsexuals in the United States have contracted HIV.
So, it was no surprise that this celebrity (transsexual) died from health problems induced by AIDS.
Smoking cocaine or heroin is safer than injecting either one into your veins. And contrary to myth few cocaine addicts that smoke cocaine end up with horrendous health effects. Albeit, it of course is not very healthy (no more than eating fast food and lots of sugar and soda all the time) and will decrease your health, your physical looks, and can lead to some long term health problems if consumed frequently for many years. And the HIV rate among smoking addicts is a lot lower than it is among non-drug addicted male-to-female transsexuals. Even though the myth claims transsexualism is sooooooo healthy.
