Than why were countries such as China so interested in this happening?

Why was this even on the UN Agenda?

There are people, who are not American, that do not support this either.

There really was no reason to do this.

I'm having this reaction too!

How disappointed they're going to be as the internet rolls on without a hitch and they remain able to be ignorant in public for everyone to see. They'd MUCH rather it came to a screeching halt.

Oh well, I have chickens to feed right now...

If there is going to be no affect why would the UN even care about this or push for this?

Because the UN DID NO SUCH THING.

ICANN is an international consortium. It has been "housed" with the US, but the intention has always been that it should be a stand-alone organization.

Read this, and learn something. Then do some googling, and read things OTHER than what is posted on breitbart or infowars or....

You do not understand what you are talking about:

US 'could give control of internet's addressing system to the United Nations' | Daily Mail Online

https://www.wired.com/2016/10/intern...ongs-everyone/

There are a lot of people in this thread who do not understand what is happening and stating that other people do not know. It was the United States Internet, The UN did want control of it, in part because some of its members are threatened by the freedom of information.

There was no reason to change it other than to give some oppressive regimes a shot at limiting the freedom of information.

Americans are less than 10% of internet users. There are servers located in any number of countries, mostly owned by private companies. The underlying technology is well-understood and now nearly universal, if the internet disappeared tomorrow, any number of computer engineers in all parts of the world could start it up again. In what sense, then, does the internet belong to the US?

Way to surrender your main point and admit you are wrong. We are making progress!

I understand you do not understand, which is why you should not have talked about other people not understanding. Anyone else is free to create their own Internet, and some have. Whether people decide to use a Chinese controlled Internet would have been interesting.
