Right like all other consumer goods like computers, washers, driers, refrigerators , cars
Consumer goods? Healthcare is an essential service. You can maintain a happy lifestyle without that new laptop, but try doing the same without a liver or lung transplant.
...At least Trump is willing o open up the lines of coverage from state to state for better lower rates and quality health care.
I'd love to agree with you, but here's the dirty little secret that no politician will tell you: It's a states' rights issue. The federal government can't do a damn thing about it - irrespective of who gets elected president.
Each state has the right to regulate all of the financial products marketed in its state. Insurance is a financial product. Therefore, each state has an insurance commission that approves each insurance plan sold within its borders every year.
If you want the drip-by-drip description of how health insurance plans are approved, I can give you that, too. But the answer is, the federal government is powerless when it comes to selling insurance across state lines.
Insurance Industry are NOT honest brokers..it's obvious THAT is why ACA put in the parameters to try and reign them in!! Single payer or Medicare for all would have been much more affective!! Meantime at least many millions were able to at least gain INSURANCE due to previous disallowances by Insurance Companies prior to gouge+++++ and make it impossible to even access Insurance!!
Meanwhile~~ Back in 2009 on~~ Insurance Industry lobby'd Politicians ( mostly GOP) to refuse to vote for it..however..once voted into law, SCOTUS found lawful, and full force pressers went out!! Initiating Tea Party entering~~ No appetite to make the fixes needed..and torpedoing any effort to adjust. Yikes!! Recipe and fulling funded by big money to try and fault HC for American Citizens. Their agenda ended up leading to pricing with HIGH deductibles BEFORE anyone could get benefit!! It's Highway robbery by Public Sector/Corporations who only want to profit!! HC isn't a for profit benefit..Breaking even should be the goal..BUT GOP being fed HUUGE $$$ to defund it ( thus over 55 attempts to do so in Congress since 2010) exposes exactly..Politicians don't give a care about welfare of their citizens unless it is a fetus with life long anomalies known being forced upon families. Thus Planned Parenthood attacks and false accusations then defunding efforts for past 4 years!!
If women cares about their freedom to make decisions about their body or want to allow GOP to overturn the Roe V Wade decision ..By all means Vote for the GOP rep. Women will be debased and forced to have MEN to decide for them all!! Go for it..and come back..and say..WHOA..I'm so HAPPY and feel free! I'm waiting for GOP to start and legislation to stop women votes ( yu know they are lesser) because they aren't up to par ( lesser once again)
HC should be something ALL Politicians want to work together about..BUT past 8 years and the vitriol proclaimed proves THEY don't..Even John B. House leader ( now retired) couldn't utter the word "Compromise" which was a telegraphing of how Congress was going to be conducted!!
Single payer, everybody pays what they can,,and regulations on providers and what they can charge for procedures is the ONLY way to go. As long as Provider's refuse to cooperate/refuse patients unless they have Gold level of coverage says more about them and goes against their oath all take when providing such service!
I feel so bad for American's having to deal with Private Insurers...THEY certainly do NOT have YOUR best interest in mind~ Profit..Profit..SO why do American's accept such?? Meantime..It's already law..No one can be refused life treating treatment..TAXPAYERS have to pay..WHY??? You should be asking your Politicians why! If EVERYBODY paid ..then ALL would benefit..including every taxpayer..so who's going to complain?

Sorry.
Currently California only allow 6 providers in the State of California. Many States fall into this category, however if those lines were broken down we would have better insurance for a lower cost.
Then the problem is clear, open those state lines up. Let's look forward instead of reviewing the current situation.
Yes, there is no profit in insuring sick people - even we they have a $12,000 deductible and the gov't picks up most of their $800/month premium. There is only profit in insuring healthy people with no pre-existing conditions and hoping they don't get sick.
The profits per $100 of premium are typically about $4 or less.
The problem is that they delayed the penalties for young healthy folks that went without insurance.
It's not hard to understand, sick people that paid in 8k but cost 100k a year need to be offset by lots of healthy young folks paying in 5k and taking out 1k a year.
The latter could easily see they were getting screwed and opted out with no serious consequences.
It's not that difficult to understand folks.
