The goal of the "progressive" left is to create a society that contains all cultures with no majorities or minorities and everyone living together in a multi-cultie utopia of peace, harmony and inclusiveness, right? Well how can you do that without people appropriating different aspects of each other's cultures? Do you expect everyone to just rigidly act as iconic examples of the stereotypes associated with their culture?
That doesn't bring people together at all, it enforces divisions. But maybe that is the point. Maybe all these people, many belonging to cultures that are generally incompatible with each other, are not being brought together to live in harmony at all. Maybe they are being brought together to be perpetually offended at one another, or more likely to unite in perpetual offense towards the dominant culture of the societies they are moving to. Maybe they are just meant to force deference from and eventual elimination of the host cultures. To become an aggrieved voting block that will eliminate totally the traditions and ideologies that made these host countries what they are in the first place and eliminate the prosperity and success that has held so much of the wealth of those countries out of the hands of the global elitists who hold claim to it all as their birthright.
Maybe all of the social Justice Warriors that are ravaging the internet looking for offense under every virtual rock and twig are just useful idiots who are perpetuating their own economic oppression under the strange guise of hatred and aggression wrapped in a veneer of unidirectional politeness and tolerance. Forcing divisions under a banner of unity and providing the elites with the often violent smokescreens they need to distract us from the generational theft that is happening right before our very eyes.
We may be, or strive to be, a multi-cultural society but it's become obvious that there is an agenda (or several of them) attached to that plan by the left.
It's not wrong to bring attention to issues, but it shouldn't come at the expense of others. A perfect example is the BLM protests over cops shooting African-Americans. Protesting is their right, but cops shouldn't be shot in revenge.
Another thing is all this white-shaming going on in schools and other places. It's fine to discuss inequalities as they are perceived, but it isn't right that some 3rd grader should be made to feel guilty for being what they are.
So in many ways, the multi-cultural dream is hypocritical. They can't have their utopia while doing to others what they don't want done to themselves.
In true melting pots, people have first person familiarity with the cultures they adopt. In most areas of America, cultural appropriation equals white kids from white neighborhoods watching BET and mimicking what they saw. Therein lies the difference.
I'm not sure if that was clear from the other thread.
