After reading this-I have a question for all our so smart, so educated liberals on this board. Based on this-why do you insist on opening our borders for some of the least educated, least skilled, often illiterate, culturally primitive people in the world? We have more than enough Hillary and Sanders supporters on this board. Surely ONE of you can come up with a reasonable explanation. One even us unedgucmacated conservatives can comprehend.
I believe you've been given numerous reasons why we believe helping others is important. Whether you think they are reasonable or not can only be controlled by you, not us.
Redistribution of other peoples prosperity, by force.
What is your suggestion to the increasing unemployment rates due to automation and moving jobs overseas? Its cute to throw out a talking point but what do you THINK?
Obamacare was supposed to do something similar. It was supposed to bend the cost curve down and save average families $2500 a year. And Pelosi promised us that not being tied to an employer simply for the benefit of health care would free Americans to follow their passions.
And it didn't because the AFFORDABLE CARE ACT was perverted beyond belief by politicians being completely unable to compromise and/or give in.
I think eventually will head back to the natural order of the world (and still in most places today) where you have a rich elite, a tiny middle class, and the rest starving in the streets or getting by with very little.
I used to work as a tutor in community college. I would tutor students who would be in tears because they could not figure out basic college math no matter how long or hard they tried. These people are not going to make it in today's economy. Meanwhile you have countries like China and India sending loads of their genius prodigies over here. A huge percentage of the population does not have the IQ to perform the kinds of advanced jobs that pay well today.
The days of the 20th century where someone could make a middle class wage doing menial work in a factory was a fluke in history and will never return.

The reality is we no longer need low skill immigrants because native born Americans increasingly have the same skill set as someone born on a dirt road in Latin America. High skill jobs like doctors and engineers would go unfilled without immigrants from South Asia and the Middle East.
