There's no hope for the GOP as long as their base-worship continues. Why do the opinions of women-fearing, narrow-minded cholesterol cases matter so much? They don't give a damn about expanding in any direction; screw hispanics, blacks, college graduates, and the rest of the civilized world.
After the election, they'll have a pow-wow led by, oh, say, Ryan. The theme will be "Holy S**t." Since the old white herds are dying off, the search will be on for new supplicants. They will come up with nothing.
You have to remember, Kasich is as much "establishment" as Hillary Clinton and Obama. You did notice that Kasich is supportive of TPP, perhaps the biggest sellout of the American working class to global corporatism in modern history. The "establishment" Republicans attacking Trump are little different that the "establishment" Dems attacking Sanders. Yes, Trump and Sanders are both poor candidates, to the point of being "loony". But in spite of that, they at least paid lip service to the American people, not to globalism. That was seen as an unacceptable threat to those in power. One that must be destroyed at any cost.
Which explains why you have a DNC crudely biasing a primary election away from the choice of the people and towards their selected mouthpiece. And why establishment Republicans equally crudely attacking the people's choice and promoting one weak, establishment candidate after another, hoping one would gain traction. This also is why the RNC is willing to sell out Republican voters and put perhaps the worst Democrat candidate in history into the White House.
Kasich IS right-the RNC must evolve. But it must evolve away from the same entity that the DNC has become-a means of protecting the extreme rich, the bankers and the globalists. A means of suppressing new businesses by protecting those favored by those in power. A way of suppressing political dissent via the power of the government establishment and their mouthpiece, establishment media.
We can only hope that this is the last gasp of a dying, corrupt power structure. I do think that it's obvious that the success of Trump and that of Sanders (pre-sell out) was a wakeup call to the establishment of both parties.

I am so disappointed that it isn't Kasich running against Clinton. He is the only one of the GOP primary candidates who is leader material for a modern country.
I do have some leftist leanings but given Clinton's baggage I would seriously consider Kasich.
Kasich is done in the GOP and so are the Bushes.......this is about nationalism vs globalism....we all know what group Kasich is......they are dead.
Republicans were fed the Bush's doctrine of globalism and they woke up and no longer want it and Kasich didn't get the memo during the primaries and is in denial.
You've got that backwards. Kasich is part of the real Republican party. It's Trump and the fundamentalists and the Tea Party who are the usurpers in the GOP. THEY are the real RINOs. And hopefully, the real Republicans will purge them from the party. It's the only way the GOP will survive.
The Trump supporters and the alt right will just have to go form their own party instead of trying to take over the one that was there long before they came along.
I'm sure Republicans are ruing the day they invited these losers in. Time to clean house.

I do not understand how Trump got the nomination over Kasich. Makes no sense that the voters would side with sociopath con-man Trump even when general election polls showed Kasich was the best choice if the GOP wanted to win the general election.
Maybe that's a good thing. We need a new party, one that is more center between the two. Pro union/pro workers rights along with advocation for affordable healthcare for working families.
Let the Democrats have all the fruitloop causes like gays and tranny's and god knows what will come next.
We need a common sense party for working people who earn less than 500K a year.
Funny how "evolve" now means to agree with liberal democrat pipe dreams.
yup. "Evolving" in their language doesn't mean a convergence on the issues and coming to a mutually agreed upon solution, that both can be satisfied with.
It simply means be a leftist or die.
The extreme left took over the party within the last 10 years or so, with drummed up campaign issues. They prey on people's insecurities.
