My husband was an EMT for years. He said a doctor who happened to come upon an accident scene would need to be prepared to take charge of the patient, until he got to a hospital. So, if I am on my way somewhere, I'm not getting involved.
Imagine that you are in a plane and a patient was being attended to already. That's a can of worms you don't want to open anyway, unless you truly were able to save the patient from death, then, I guess you would do what you could, despite having no equipment.
I'm not saying that the attendants on the flight weren't wrong.
It's a big world. Everything happens. These incidents have been selected for reporting because they support the current meme of "implicit bias".
Quote:
A report by the Washington Post, points to the phenomenon of “implicit bias” as the culprit. “Overt bias certainly exists, but there is also a growing body of scientific literature that’s revealing an even more uncomfortable truth,” according to the article. “Deep-seated unconscious biases help steer our thinking and behavior — even when we don’t realize it.”
One can only hope that by sharing their stories, women like Cross and Denmark can begin to receive the respect that others — particularly older, white men — enjoy without needing to jump through hoops to prove themselves.
The best solution is for black medical professionals not to help out or volunteer. I certainly wouldn't, given all of the racism.. just sit back, sip your tea and let the waiters/waitresses (I mean flight attendants) deal with the medical emergencies.
Would you seek for treatment from a black doctor knowing he or she probably got into and through the medical school because of affirmative action rather than their ability?
Especially when you have large numbers of people wanting and trying to make said things happen for ulterior motives and to promote a narrative.
Yes... is there even a term for that? We could call it "implicit bias expectation behavior". If I step outside my house here in Japan expecting to find evidence of people being prejudiced against me as a non-Japanese, I will definitely find it. What I perceive stems largely from my own attitude.
Oh. My. God!!! Shut the airlines down!! We need an immediate investigation by Congress! In fact, let's postpone the election until we can get to the bottom of this abomination! !
The faux outrage over the stupidest crap is getting out of control.
e. I'm not so ignorant to not know that grading is also done on a preference in undergrad. Oftentimes the difference between getting an A or a C is being the right gender and skin color.
