Democrat President Andrew Jackson the last president to completely payoff the national debt. Democrat Presidents Clinton & Johnson are the last 2 presidents to have a surplus!

Republicans have never paid off the debt!

And, Obama will leave a $20 trillion dollar debt. The debt has nearly doubled under his presidency. I think we need to look, not 100 or 200 years ago, but in the present and recent past.

Reagan tripled the national debt.

Bush left the country in dire financial straits with two wars underway. Is it any wonder the national debt increased after the financial debacle of his administration? (i.e. tax cuts for the wealthy and launching two wars on the nation's credit card.)

Eisenhower was the last Republican president to leave the economy in better shape than he found it.

And, that was then and this is now. Not one of the people being mentioned are running for election. For those not knowing who is running for the election, contact your county board of elections for a sample ballot.

"Elections".

As jobs left the country because of the unfair trade deals that put money in the pockets of those selling out our citizens, the tax base decreased. I have no idea where Obama spent the money, just look at the country. Where did the money go?

No, it hasn't.

Ronald Reagan added $1.86 trillion to the debt.......a 186% increase over Carter.
George HW Bush added $1.554 trillion to the debt...a 54% increase over Reagan.
Bill Clinton added $1.396 trillion to the debt...........a 32% increase over HW Bush.
George W Bush added $5.849 trillion to the debt.....a 101% increase over Clinton.
Barack Obama added $6.494 trillion to the debt......a 56% increase over Bush.

While Obama has added the most dollars, his actual % level of deficit spending was greatly reduced, just as it was under the Clinton presidency. Reagan and the Bushes INCREASED deficit spending throughout their presidencies. Clinton and Obama REDUCED deficit spending throughout theirs. Let's also not forget that Obama inherited one of the worst economies ever meaning not only the costs of the safety nets to keep the nation out of recession, but the impact of lower tax receipts as well. Still, Obama and Clinton found ways to begin to turn the tide of extreme deficit spending began by their Republican predecessors.

You guys crack me up. The debt "typically" increases due to spending-not a decrease of what is coming into the treasury. Who controls spending? I would suggest you take a look at Congress, not necessarily the President.

Obama has shrunk the Deficit every year in office. Hillary will have a surplus to pay down some debt!

Republican V.P. Dick Cheney told the Treasury secretary Paul O’Neill “deficits don’t matter”,,, “We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due.” Cheney then told him he was fired. The REPUBLICAN CONGRESS got rid of PAYGO Rules and Exploded Deficit as soon as Bush took over under Republican House & Senate!!!

The debt has never been paid off. That shows how much the OP knows about this topic.

Wrong!

Democrat President Andrew Jackson completely paid off the national debt. That's why he is pictured on the United States twenty-dollar bill ($20)

Now you need to vote Clinton to redeem yourself.
