Does this mean we stop giving preference based on race? When my highschool was to close down, the black kids in class were offered to go to any school in the district, 8 or 9. I was offered 2. Are they fighting to open up the whole district to me? Somehow I doubt it. I think they are just encouraging victimhood and making excuses. It is devisive and counter productive.

Pretty pathetic when you have public school teachers wearing attire that promotes a racist, violent group that practices terrorism. Honestly-the balance should pick up some Arian Nations garb for the day. Both groups are equally pathetic. Granted, AN hasn't killed nearly as many.

I want to know why these teachers were not properly instructing black students.

If the teachers weren't being racists, they would do their best with all students, regardless of race, and it would be equal.

Shouldn't the teacher shirts have said "Stop Me From Being A Racist"?

From the little you provide it appears the district is trying to diversify it's student enrollment, when I lived in Seattle back in the 80's blacks did not seem to be a significant percentage of the local population for school diversity to be an issue.

I think it means steal from the surrounding white communities to pay for better schools.

Educational equity means all students are given the same opportunities, so those who are at a disadvantage (i.e. English isn't a first language) can get additional assistance.

I don't think teachers should become walking billboards for any cause. Taxpayers have differing views, and the role of the teacher should be to teach, not to push some agenda onto the kids in their school or classroom.

Racial equity means that regardless of race all students are given equal opportunities.

Not sure what your personal example has to do with racial equity.

As a black mother of black children, I do feel that our educational system is where disparities still exist (IMO the criminal justice system and educational systems are the only places really where "systematic racism" is still around and that is based moreso on the biases of the people involved in those institutions about black Americans). I especially believe that black children are not referred to gifted and honors programs due to racial biases of some of their teachers and the lack of adequate testing/recruitment for those programs. Many districts actually have gotten much better in this regard, but many need work. I was a TAG student as a child only because my pediatrician thought I was "retarded" (I wouldn't talk to him and I rocked back and forth as a 3 year old while sitting) and he referred me to early intervention where I was IQ tested as being advanced and so I was put on an "honor's path" in public education. I saw then and still see today that kids in those programs, even in poor districts receive a much better education than those who don't. I'll also note that I do feel that the educational system is dominated by liberals and that liberals can and do hold racial biases against children of color that affects the education received by our children.

I think it means black people shouldn't have to do any homework.

I also agree with this. The OP link is disturbing to me because I know I would not want my kid's teacher being "that" involved in socio-political movements while at school and especially not involving my child.
