Much is being done to counter Russian ambitions in the High North, and yet much more remains to be done.
The recent stream of senior U.S. defense officials to Nordic countries underlines American concerns about potential friction in northern Europe, and Washington’s efforts to boost defense and deterrence there. Defense Secretary Ash Carter stopped in Norway in early September, while his deputy Bob Work, who has been to the region three times over the last two years, paid an early-October visit to Finland’s capital, Helsinki. Shortly thereafter, Air Force Secretary Deborah James made her own trip across the region. (Go back to last year, and Senate Armed Services Committee chair John McCain was in Norway and Sweden to discuss regional security.)
The multi-country itinerary reflects the realization that boosting defense and security cooperation there requires more than a one-size-fits-all approach. For starters, Norway and Denmark are founding members of NATO and treaty allies of the United States, while Sweden and Finland are only NATO partners and have no formal defense agreement with the U.S.
The war Obama and Hillary want to start with Russia will first be fought with tactical nukes by both sides. Escalation to strategic nukes will be inevitable. Kiss your ass good bye if you live in a major city or near an AFB or Naval base. Otherwise, be prepared for your electric service to go down and not come back up. And that will be just the beginning of suffering for survivors.
Europe on war footing: US troops deployed to Poland to stand guard on Russia's borders in biggest military build-up since the Cold War as Putin practices for nuclear war
A Russian missile design company has unveiled the first image of a new weapon in Russia's arsenal: the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, nicknamed "Satan 2."
The RS-28 Sarmat rocket "is capable of wiping out parts of the earth the size of Texas or France," Russian state news outlet Sputnik reported in May.
The image was published by the Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau on its website.
All we're doing is positioning a few American troops on NATO members' soil as a symbolic gesture to show the Russians that any incursion would involve American troops, and therefore the entire United States military. It's highly unlikely that any shots will be fired in anger and the chances of a nuclear exchange are minuscule.
No it's not. If they targeted every warhead on the missile it could wipe out a large city or two, but Texas is 268,597 square miles in size.
I had the same thought and assumed they were talking about the reach of effect, even then it seems improbable .
I believe one article stated that it would contain 10 warheads at 750 kilotons each, I won't pretend to know exactly how that equates in terms of real world effectiveness.

Airbursts are most destructive and minimize fallout, and minimizing fallout is something they'd try to do, since it doesn't stop at a nation's border.
