I agree, nobody objects to the increase of immigration, as long as it's done the legal and proper way, as opposed to Clinton's 500% increase, which is most likely for political reasons and to increase the number of registered Democrats.

Settling in the communities filled with people from your home country doesn't mean they didn't assimilate. They learned the language, were grateful to be here, didn't make demands, had no expectations that citizens and laws should change for them. They also came here legally, and the values and morals of their cultures were very similar to ours.

Illegals are criminals the minute they enter the country.

And those from the middle east don't have our values and morals, as proven throughout Europe where women are being sexually assaulted, homosexuals are being attacked, and Jews are being driven from their homes.

Unless you're a misogynistic, homophobic, anti-Semitic illegal, you should have a bit of a problem with these things.

I totally believe it's some sort of conspiracy or giant scheme ...that's why they want as many poor immigrants to come in from poor countries as possible. What country in their right mind, that wants to stay a superpower would do that? You are only weakening your country by letting mass amounts of poor people flow into it.

People don't get it they keep trying to act like immigration in 2016 should be viewed the same as immigration was back in 1776. Immigrants in 1776 came here and built the country they didn't suck it dry for free healthcare.

Legal immigration should be based on what an immigrant can contribute to this country, not what they can get out of it. There should be a point system based on needed skills, education, and English language ability. Chain migration needs to end. While spouses and children of course should be allowed in, there is no benefit to this country of bringing in elderly parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. The number of legal immigrants admitted in any one year should fluctuate with the economy and unemployment rate, with certain exceptions. There should also be some sort of criteria about an immigrant's ability to assimilate and adhere to our open and democratic society. This should exclude Muslim extremists/Salafists/Wahabbis. They should not be admitted to this country, just like neo-Nazis or white supremacists should not be admitted. If an immigrant does not believe in our democratic values, they don't belong here.

Laws against illegal immigration should be strictly enforced, with mandatory e-verify and substantial fines and/or jail time for employers who knowingly employ illegals. However, our system has been so screwed up for so long, I am OK with some form of amnesty for illegal immigrants who have been here for more than 5 years and have not committed any major crime. Once that is done, all recent illegal immigrants and all future ones should be subject to immediate deportation. We need to have secure borders and enforce our laws. The fact that that seems harsh to some people really has me baffled.

I think we should allow some refugees into this country, but it should be limited and also contingent on a more equitable international system of dealing with refugees, i.e., bringing in thousands of low skilled, poorly educated, difficult to assimilate Somalis while the wealthy Arab countries take zero should not be allowed to happen.
Totally agree with the bolded and I like your ideas.

I agree. We should probably reconsider using a 18th century revolutionary screed in the 21st century too.

A-frickin-men! This isn't the mid-1800's, when we needed bodies and more bodies to fulfill our "Manifest Destiny" of Westward Expansion. We are no longer an emerging industrial nation in need of masses of low-skilled factory workers. Unskilled labor has been useless for some time. Low skilled labor is being automated out of need at an alarming rate. Don't send us your huddled masses, because we won't have anything for them to do here.

It is so sad what is happening in Europe and we saw it happening when we lived there and increasingly turning worse in the years after we had left.

Many Europeans don't even see it as they are blind for reality and the European media is hiding so much as they are often government subsidized media.
