A Queens bakery has told 31 of its employees that it must procure valid working papers by Tuesday, March 28, or be fired. Tom Cat Bakery is responding to an audit by the Department of Homeland Security, which flagged 31 employees, demanding documentation proving they are legally allowed to work in the United States, NY1 reports.

Not a cost to the community at all, jobs for people in the community with a right to work.
If they can't produce paperwork to say they are here legally, they are illegal aliens and deportable. At this point, all illegal aliens need a plan in place for the knock at the door, the traffic stop or the workplace raid, or avoid embarrassment and humiliation being a criminal and hit the road home before they are detained and deported!

Separating families, unemployment etc. I'm not aware of anyone here in NYC who wants a baking job and cannot get one.
Criminals are separated from their families all the time. Sad isn't that people use their kids to try to anchor themselves and bring in welfare and yet if they have to leave the country, they aren't taking those little money bundles, just leaving them behind to keep bringing in a check from the government to send to their deported parents. What values!

Yes, we are generous that way. We aren't going to confiscate their children and not let them go. Everyone I have seen comment wants them to take the anchors with them. They are actually lucky since they can be with their kids unlike the over 1 million non-violent criminals we have incarcerated away from their families with many of the kids in foster care. 28 more jobs for Americans and legal aliens? That's a good thing.
Now, they need to fine Tom Cat Bakery $25,000 per offense.
Employers are the ones taking advantage of cheap labor that never complains. We have to make the financial risk more expensive than just hiring a citizen or authorized alien in the first place.
Good scatter like roaches. I'll pay an extra dollar for coffee and bread if a real american who speaks english works there. Lol at demanding severence pay...the whole family go back to the homeland, no need to leave the kids behind to collect welfare and medicaid
The key word is ENFORCE here. They are finally enforcing the law. It's about time.
If I overstayed my visa in another country or secretly entered over their border I would always be looking over my shoulder. By not enforcing our laws we have sent a mix message. It's time to be clear.
