She graduated and COULD NOT get a "decent" job.

I think she is in her 30's now.

In fact, according to her, she is a burger flipper and CAN'T get any other job which is why she is renting and can't afford a house of her own
.
Maybe it is her personality and the fact that she doesn't have a good network of professionals to provide referrals for decent career opportunities.

IMO one's network is a huge factor in employment. And I honestly am not all that sad about people who "can't get a decent job." She needs to re-educate herself. I'm also in my 30s. I have never been a "burger flipper" not even when I was a poor college student and any liberal arts major can work as a customer service agent. I was an "at-home" customer service agent when my youngest was a baby. I have never had a problem finding a job. I think it may just be her or the area she lives in. I own 5 homes (1 residence and 4 rental properties). But I'm also not one to sit around and b**ch and moan for too long.

I know a slum lord. He rents to bikers, and all sorts of interesting people. Funny thing is, he drives a Lexus and is doing quite well. He has some great stories...

5 foot Asian dude, "Oh. interesting. Seems your refrigerator was attacked by a sledge hammer."
6 foot 5 biker, "I'm sorry"
5 foot Asian dude shrugs, " Well give me 429.99 + tax and I will have my guys get rid of the old one and put a new one in."
6 foot 5 biker smiles hands over the money and this months rent.
5 foot Asian dude drives away in his Lexus.

Tells me he has never been threatened by any of them. He's one of the few that will rent to them and he has a certain affection for many of them.
"Wealthy conservatives often do not want..."

Right, there are NO wealthy liberals who do NOT want....

The last time i checked, Bill and Hillary sent THEIR kid to a PRIVATE school.

The same as Obama.

The SAME as wealthy liberals in congress.

You really do need to grow up.

I say get rid of stuff and downsize into smaller spaces which means lower rents.

In socialism, you share. You can share your communal kitchen with 17 other families like others did in the Soviet Union.

An apartment for one person alone is bourgeois. You should be suporting the rising cost of quality healthcare. Let's get healthy.

Smaller spaces = HIGH price per sq ft = poor value for your housing dollar.

I pay more to rent a room than many people pay to own a house.

I have no desire to compete with others to use a claustrophobic kitchen.

Sharing a house or an apartment with others is good for the carbon footprint. You don't want carbon, do you?. That's nasty stuff.

When government prevents the private sector from profitably serving that "income problem" market sector, that is a government-driven problem.

I rent an overpriced room in an overcrowded 3BR/1BA house where 8 people live.
