We could probably do that only with Canada and Mexico if they were never granted citizenship and have more 'libertarianism". But to the whole world? Hell no. I don't know what the advantage is to having even a semi-open border to Mexico is. To me it is quite harmful.
The problem is liberals use identity group as a weapon. And I'm not for population growth, cheap scab labor off the books and not being selective to what and who crosses the border even if they were not granted birthright citizenship or amnesty.
Yes, we cant do it as long as we screw with other nations and have a welfare state.
Philosophy is what allowed the U.S. to exist in the first place. Everything begins with ideas. Politics (or potentially anti-politics) follows from the ideas people hold in their heads.
Even the smallest details shape the way people think. If you begin with a fundamentally flawed idea, everything after that will be screwed up. If you accept that it can be okay to violate individual rights if it serves the "common good", you'll reach very different conclusions and solutions than if you believe it's never okay to violate people's inherent human rights.
Thats not libertarianism, that's anarchism/Randism. Any government that is not anarchist or Randian necessarily entails the loss of SOME individual rights for the common good, wouldn't you agree?
We agree on that. Now, are we better of if less is stolen from us?
We are better off if we have recourse in case of theft from an aggressor.
