This is a bit of a shock. Long overdue. Maine has joined Kansas, New Jersey and Texas in refusing to participate in Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton's poorly conceived, poorly implemented and ill-advised federal program to put 'refugees' into their states. Hooray for these states with the correct exercise of States Rights.

The federal government is not the be all, end all of government in our Constitutional Republic.

Maine Gov. Paul LePage: I'm not letting any more refugees in - CBS News
Quote:
He cites an example of a refugee living in Freeport, who went back to Syria and died fighting for ISIS.

He says the state has also found welfare fraud especially prevalent within the refugee community, but during our interview, he stressed safety, and concerns the program puts American lives at risk.
Quote:
“The president of the United States is bringing in immigrants from Syria without vetting them,” LePage said. “He says they’re vetted; how do you vet someone you don’t have records on? I just sent him a letter today we’re pulling out of the refugee program.”

Texas, Kansas and New Jersey have also cut ties with the fed’s refugee resettlement program.

While the state can’t block refugees from entering, it can refuse to help with the process, which is what appears to be happening here.
It's a start, but does not go far enough to putting an end to the current dangerous climate of unfettered immigration.

Their brains need to engage.

There is no logic in taking in these refugees.

They`re all full of that Christian nonsense are they not? Taking in the poor and the hungry when they should be kicking them in the teeth. That`s what Jesus would do.

When did Jesus proclaim waste?

Are you claiming their are no poor and hungry in the US and we have a surplus of aid money?

Spending $65,000 to relocate each one of these refugees to the US is a WASTE of limited resources. How many poor families living on the streets in the US could that money make significant changes for? Do you think Jesus would say those people should be left on the street?

Even if we didn't have any poor and hungry in the US, bringing them here still lacks logic. We could help more of those refugees by spending money helping more of them locally than spending so much on relocating them nearly halfway around the globe to a place where most don't speak the language and will need to be more dependent while they slowly acquire the skills to be able to become self sufficient over here.

Like I said, a severe lack of logic by those who want to move those refugees here.

Damn, they're all going to end up in NY. There are all kinds of church groups that help the government with this...but hush hush and under the table.

I've never understood this concept in this country. The US cannot take care of its own, and shows little interest in even trying. Yet thinks nothing of bringing so many from 3rd World Countries into this country. Financially and health wise. There are many Americans not much better off, than many of all these refugees. These are not the same immigrants from yesteryear. When you were on your own when you got here. Is an entirely different set up in this day and age. I think you can't help others, until you can help your own. Something America doesn't care about. Helping others is fine, but I'm sorry America has a responsibility to its own first.

Cowards. Letting fear of the minute possibility of terrorism stop them from helping people who are in dire need of it. I'm ashamed for you.

This false equivalency that says helping our own is an either or proposition is the hallmark of someone madly scrambling to rationalize what they know is abhorrent behavior on their own part.

84,995 for fiscal year 2016.

About half are Muslim.

U.S. admits record number of Muslim refugees in 2016 | Pew Research Center

Once resettled, all are free to move anywhere in the US.

Refugee resettlement peaked in the 80's.

I would love to see all resettlement from anywhere put on the back burner until the US resolves the status of 11-12 million illegal aliens. Doing nothing for 30 years has led to the current situation. So long as employers continue to hire undocumented workers without serious consequences, they will come. An investment in Biometric E- Verify should be the number one priority.
