We knew a guy who was the producer of the evening news on our local affiliate. He said a trained chimpanzee could do his job. The hardest part of the job was explaining to the reporters why their assignments were important. Most were dumb as dirt about anything to do with government. He said.
But I know some print people who would never in a thousand years stage a photo.
No big deal using tape to make the scene of a crime look official, ONE time. However I'd look into the ones responsible to see how much of this is going on and more importantly to what extent?
ABC News is shown here in Japan and I watch it most mornings. But it seems so odd in recent years, not really tabloidesque (that's Nightline) but much more female oriented and just... a lot dumber. So much of it is cringeworthy, like when they replace the word "people" with "families", tell you how many millions of Americans are in the heavy rain zone or replace actual temperatures with "wind chill will make it seem like" for more dramatic weather.
