A public defender is however required to defend their client to the very best of their ability and that includes using existing laws. To do otherwise would be an ethical violation and could create the basis for a mistrial.

The laws at the time allowed a minor victim to be questioned. Reportedly she had a history of running off with older boys and then claiming rape. During the late evening of the rape she took off with a teen boy in a pick up truck being driven by Hillary's client. They went to a bowling alley and then stopped for cokes and alcohol and pulled over for some fun.

Older guy left the two and returned to find them finishing up. Allegedly, he hopped on the girl.

Around 3-4 AM her mother took her to the ER and claimed she was raped. She was released in the morning. 40 + years later she claimed she had been in a coma for 5 days. There is no factual evidence to support this.

Hillary's client passed multiple lie detector tests and during a subsequent radio interview, well after the case, she chuckled about it and said that's when she lost confidence in lie detector tests.

Girl's mother did not want a trial. The prosecution offered Hillary's client a plea bargain to a lessor charge and time served. He agreed to it.

Many reasons to dislike Hillary. This is not one of them.
Good post. Rape is rape and a grown man having sex with a 12-year-old is abominable. It is interesting, however, that the girl's reaction after the rape was to yell at the man who raped her and the teenager with whom she had sex, "You two planned this all along!" Anger, not shock and horror. She sounded like a pretty tough kid for 12 to respond that way. Wonder what kind of childhood she had.

So what? That is what defense lawyers DO. It is their job to take such cases, regardless of whether they know their client to be guilty or not. We had one shrill user of this forum (cremeburleee) also try and indict her for defending a rapist. But when it was pointed out that this is what defense lawyers DO.... the user pretty much ran away from their own thread and never returned.

Now you might, quite validly, attack her for how she treated the case, the claimant, and so forth. And that is all well and good. But anything that even implies poor form on her part for TAKING the case, is out of order. Defense lawyers SHOULD take defense cases, even for people they know to be guilty, and they SHOULD defend them to the absolute best of their ability.

I know you are an artisan of extreme hyperbole at the best of times, but lying is part of the "occult" now?? Even by your usual standards this is shrill nonsense. And given your usual standards, this is really saying something.

Not letting this one go. That 12 year old little girl was ripped to shreds and unable to have children as a result of this vicious rape.

Hillary Clinton has repeatedly stated that she has fought for women and children her whole life. NOT THIS TIME. Hillary brutalized that little girl. BRUTALIZED.

anyone who tries to soft peddle this is not thinking right. period

Again however the distinction has to be made between her taking the case as a defense lawyer, and how she conducted herself WHILE taking that case. If she treated the victim badly that is certainly an issue. Not one I know much about. And if there are laws TODAY that stop that kind of thing happening, then great. I would simply say not to hold someones PAST actions up against TODAYS laws.

But TAKING the case is another issue entirely and one that people have attacked and then run away from (again cremebruleee is a prime example of a user on here doing just that). There is nothing wrong with her having taken the case, even if she knew the party to be guilty. There is nothing wrong with defending such a person in law, quite the opposite in fact. And there is nothing at all wrong with her taking such a case and ALSO "fighting for women and children her whole life".

So, as long as that distinction is made, then there really is no issue with how you judge her conduct during the case. Have at it, she seems in many ways to be an awful human being and were even half the accusations about her conduct true.... it would not surprise me in the least.
