"Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has lost a referendum on constitutional reform by a wide margin, exit polls and early projections showed on Sunday, throwing his future into doubt and opening the door to renewed political instability in Italy. A trio of polls for various television stations saw the 'No' camp ahead by at least eight percentage points. Within half an hour, projections based on the initial counts suggested Renzi could lose by as much as 20 points. If confirmed, the result would represent a fresh blow to the European Union which is struggling to overcome an array of crises and was eager for Renzi to continue his reform drive in the euro zone's heavily indebted, third-largest economy."
Hmm. The link changed their content. Here's another:
"The result represents a fresh blow to the European Union which is struggling to overcome an array of crises and was eager for Renzi to continue his reform drive in the euro zone’s heavily indebted, third-largest economy."
“If Renzi’s referendum fails, it will be seen as another symbolic victory for the populists that portends greater risk for other states and the EU,” a Eurasia Group Europe analyst told The Telegraph. He continued, “It will make the EU defensive and inward-looking, and more incapable of addressing the problems that are giving rise to the populists in the first place.”
Good for them! Glad they had the common sense to not let globalists do an end-run to stifle their voices. It is mind blowing to me how socialist liberals are willing to allow government to run their lives and make decisions for them. Scary stuff. Now let's hope France follows.
The opposition leader of the Five Star Movement Beppe Grillo is:
Anti-establishment
Environmentalist
Anti-globalist
Eurosceptic
Pro same sex marriage
Calls for the Nationalisation of Italian banks and exit from the euro
The "five stars" are a reference to five key issues for the party: public water, sustainable transport, sustainable development, right to Internet access, and environmentalism.
Yet uniformed american's think he's part of a right wing conservative trend?
He basically doesn't want to pay Italy's debt back.
While i'm sure Germany holds most of that debt, i'll wager that US banks do too.
The driving force behind European countries now voting in referendums like they have been are basically 3 that you mention:
Anti-establishment
Anti-globalist
Euosceptic
You can call them right wing or left wing or anything inbetween. People there are tired of being dictated to by Germany and their current politicians who are pro Muslim immigration among other things. Most people in many Euro countries have had enough and liked it better when each country was recognized more individually including having their own currency.
