There's some crude language to get past and if that bothers you, skip it. Otherwise, listen to the whole thing. It may or may not register with the elitist left, but they should at least try to hear him out. He hits the ball out of the park and most Brits are terrible baseball players.
The identity politics, demonization of whites, Black lives matter and white privilege malarkey is what is causing the Midwestern states to shift right. This mentality and those groups are to blame and we must repudiate them from the progressive movement. Progressives should be about uniting people around common goals for the 99%, not polarize the society by radicalizing minorities (whites are to blame!) and alienating huge numbers of decent people who happen to be white. People of all backgrounds are struggling in a rigged economy held up by a corrupt system of campaign finance and all progressives should be concerned about all victims of this plutocratic system.
I saw that on FB, I guess you missed what he said about Trump too. I agree with everything he said by the way.
I heard what he said about Trump and he is dead right. How bad did the other side have to F things up in order to create an environment where it was possible for him to get elected? The Leftist elites (DNC, politicians and media) created a narrative that Hillary was going to win a landslide election, Trump would be vanquished, and the GOP would either be dead or all non-establishment elements would be purged from the party. Either way, the GOP would have to fight a civil war. The Democrats would be ascendant and a new era of liberalism would be implemented across the land. No one questioned this. Anyone who thought differently was a kook or some kind of uneducated redneck.
What actually happened? Trump won a landslide in terms of total states won, the GOP is consolidated under him and the establishment types are on the run. Now the DNC is in a civil war and are essentially at the same place as the GOP was a while ago; namely, they are at the point where they have to come to terms with the damage the establishment wing has done to the party.
It comes down to establishment hubris. The elites can tell us what to think, pressure us in terms of how we should think and disparage us for our lifestyles. None of that actually changes anything on the ground. Just like in the GOP, this is not fundamentally a right/left issue. This is a pleb/patrician issue and now its the Dem's turn to figure it out.
