I thought Americans cherished there Veterans? This reminds me of the incident where the flight attendant didn't think the black woman was a doctor

I see that Chili's needs a new manager. Was there something else we were supposed to note?

I'm sure the issue started with his clothing. There are tons of fake veterans out there. It is nice Chili's and other places give these "thank you" meals but let's be real, they do it to get positive publicity and warm fuzzy feelings towards their establishment. When these type of ugly encounters hit social media it backfires and accomplishes the exact opposite, which will end up in less and less places doing this. My husband is a retired combat veteran, he would never dream of creating this type of scene. They ask every person who requests the free meal for proof.

By the way, I don't doubt for a minute what we saw taped was a result of events not recorded that took place prior. And, if I had to venture to guess what happened, the "service dog" was not behaving as a service dog should, which is why they packed up his free meal. But, rest assured, the manager will probably be fired.

I think the veteran should have offered his military ID. Maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere.

Veterans don't have any sort of military ID unless they are on active duty, retired, in the reserves or disabled. He offered his DD214 (proof of service) to the manager and that should have been sufficient.

Yes they do... my dad retired from the AF in 1985... he goes on base all the time. You can't get on the base without a military ID.

That's just for retirees. Normally, you get nothing but a form DD214. that's official proof for all things. Many states today, though, have veterans drivers licences that have veteran imprinted on them.

I didn't see that part in the video. Somebody said he wore the uniform. Are veterans allowed to wear uniform if they are no longer active duty?

Personally, I feel if they served, they have the right to wear it whenever they choose. (I don't know the law or rules about it)

Yup. I'm a veteran; 2 years of active duty service and 6 more in the Reserve and National Guard. Since I didn't stay in until retirement, I have no official "veterans ID." A DD 214 is the only document that definitively proves my status as an honorably discharged veteran.
