A few things during the Obama years stirred up the hornets nest that is today's religious right. First, the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" The second is the supreme court decision to legalize gay marriage. The third was Obama lighting the White House with rainbow colors the night of the marriage decision and lastly (and the big one), Obama's instruction to allow public schools to let transgender students use the bathroom of their choice.

These events have awakened what is an aging, sleeping giant and it's likely we are headed into another "Moral Majority" era like the 1980s. These people want a quasi-dictatorship in which the Federal government is a strong arm of the Southern Baptist church. They don't believe in separation of church and state and believe the First Amendment only applies to Christianity as defined by them. Left unopposed, we very much could be headed towards a society like the one in the movie "V for Vendetta." One of the hallmarks of that society I can definitely see happening in this country is heavy censorship of the media and a national curfew as well as banning of certain genres of literature.

It's a scary time to live in this country if you support freedom for all and value separation of church and state.
I think Obamacare and the transgender males in the women's bathroom had something to do with it. Those two things were two steps over the line for the middle class. Religious and non-religious. Men and women.

I've used bathrooms where cross dressers and Transgenders were using the male bathroom. This was before all this hoopla came up with the bill and nothing happened while using the bathroom.

Some traditions in this country are worth retaining so that our kids don't grow up in a depraved world. I have nothing against gays personally. I know a few really nice ones, however I still don't approve of a "traditional" marriage for them. If they want a civil union then so be it. I'm not even a church goer even though I do believe in God. Our country was established on Christian principles like it or not. I don't believe in transgender bathrooms either. Gays should not be discriminated against in our military either.

The so-called progressive left doesn't seem to care about the number of illegal aliens we have in our country either. They sympathize with them and want amnesty for them. I oppose that. We have a shortage of jobs and resources for our own citizens and why even have immigration laws if we aren't going to enforce them? Immigration should be lawful with no exceptions and within limited numbers. Same thing for refugees. We can only take in so many and we need to make sure they aren't a threat to us and will assimilate into our society. the so-called progressives think we should be the saviors to the world.

They want to remove all religious symbols and Christian holidays. They want us to say Happy Holidays instead and PC businesses are advertising as such. They want to see any Christian traditions demolished.

The socialism of the progressive left also bothers me. People need to go to work not suck off the government teet if they are able bodied. We have more people on food stamps and other government handouts than ever before in the history of our country. Why is that? These are just some of the things I don't like about the progressive left.

I will say that we definitely need to fix immigration. However, the Right wants America to be America and close the Borders. The issue is, don't quote me, the US takes in the 2nd most immigrants of any nation a year. Think we take in 1.5 million immigrants. Canada only takes in about 300K a year. We need to set up quotas on how many immigrants are allowed in the US, take in immigrants based off of skills, and fine/close businesses that hire undocumented immigrants. Again don't quote me on this; There is about 400,000 businesses in the US that hire undocumented immigrants. Need to give US benefits to tax paying individuals in the US. As far as refugees think 10K to 12K is enough.

Think same sex marriages should count and receive the same benefits as a marriage between a man and woman.

Agree there are a lot of individuals on government assistance. You can't blame those people. The government has created policies that prevent individuals from living on their own. Enacted laws that target the poor and catch them in a vicious cycle, need to end the war on drugs. Lobbyist, Big Banks, and large corporations have taken over politics since the 1990s.

There should be no law banning an individual on the marrying the same sex or a Transgender. Should be no laws against or giving special protection to any race, religion, or gender.

If its either Trump or 3rd party or not voting at all, I assume many simply voted for the party and hopes that if nothing else, at least Trump will appoint Supreme Court justices who might overturn abortion and gay marriage.

The case is actually about a girl who wants to use the boys room, but that was going to be settled by the courts, not by the new president.

There is a big difference between Sharia and Christianity. there is the point called Free will. In Islam there is only death.

Trump is not necessary a Godly man, however God uses different people to shape us and his will. But I believe he does have Christian roots, butt does not put in our faces since he is a President for all.

The Choices that Trump will make would be Judges who are constitutionalist. No Judges who reinterpret this document.

Our population is 9 times that of Canada, but we are taking only 5 times more? Looking at it from percentages POV, they are taking more than us, and they will have a higher percentage of immigrants than us.

Having said that, we would already have a wall on the Mexican border if the parties had been willing to talk about it, but GOP refused. Now it looks like Trump solution will look just like the one Obama proposed in 2012 as he is talking about deporting only some of the illegals (criminals) just like Obama.
