I was recently thinking about Obama leaving office (thank god) and online, pops up an article about Obama's new 5+ million dollar house in DC (oh the irony based on the fact that he wants to redistribute all the wealth in this country yet he is allowed to live in a lavish mansion). I looked up the address and noticed something. It is surrounded by Embassy of Oman, Turkey, Japan, Belize, and India. I then remembered that Hillary's house is right up the road and her house too is surrounded by embassies (Italy, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Denmark, New Zealand, and Bolivia).

Why is this? Added security measures for the ex-pres/FLOTUS? Political favors?

I just seems rather sketchy based off the fact that both Obama and Hillary (especially her) have a reputation for pushing more globalist policies and you wonder why they would buy a house located next to foreign government embassies.

With the fact that money is clearly not an issue for them, why not buy a house in Georgetown, Bethesda, Potomac, areas in VA?

I'm just wondering. I googled it and there was nothing. Just seems interesting based off the fact that DC has its fair share of wealthy neighborhoods and they magically seem to choose a house located near embassies.

I believe the Obamas are renting the residence.

The choice may have been somewhat dictated by security considerations from the Secret Service.

Are you speaking of the White House or of this new residence here?

They rented until the youngest gets out of school.

That should tell you they have no plan to remain in DC.

That is pretty much it.

Very swanky area of town full of embassies and wealthy residences. Also happens to be close to nightlife and K Street.

The man has good taste. I was initially surprised that he did not find something around 16th street and thus be closer to "the People" but O never liked them much anyway.
