Maybe the ones asking for the pardon never thought of that.
People illegally here have no status.
I do think if their families can make 125% over the poverty line they could get a shot to legally stay here.
But if they are collecting checks on 3rd of the month, free medical and EBT then they could be out fast. I feel compassion for people trying to do better for their families, but we can't pay for the worlds poor if they break in.
Immigration was a huge election issue. The mid terms have a ton of (D)'s up for election. Doing this would give the (R)'s a huge advantage if it even can be done.
Even as an Obama supporter, I would question his sanity if he did such a crazy thing.
I am unclear whether Mr. Obama could, legally, do such a thing for non-citizens. At first, I thought that such pardons must also be 'name specific', and not just a 'group', but then I recalled Jimmy Carter. Looking it up to refresh my memory, he did pardon a bunch of draft dodgers on the first day of his presidency in 1977 (but not deserters).

So Obama had 20 Iraqi Christians who illegally entered from Mexico deported but then turns around and gives amnesty to 750k illegal Mexicans... that's why I didn't vote Democrat this year. Deliberately altering demographics for political gain is what communist China has done in Tibet and Xinjiang or what the USSR did in Siberia. The Iraqi Christian had a 50/50 chance of voting GOP so they had to go.
Obama is now the lamest of the lame duck presidents. He can't even get the senate to consider his Scotus pick.
All he has now is the pardon. It remains to be seen how many criminals, drug dealers and the lowest of the low, that he decides to set free.
He is going to start his own army. You know, the one he talked about that was as well funded as the US military.
