If Republican governors were smart, they would all follow suit. They should recognize that Trump's win means the will of the people is against this sanctuary city nonsense.

On Tuesday, Senator Charles Perry filed SB 4, which would eliminate "Sanctuary Cities" in Texas. It would require local governments and police to uphold the law and enforce current immigration laws.

“By electing a Republican president and Republican majorities in Congress, the American people made it clear that solving our illegal immigration crisis must be a priority,” said Senator Perry. “That starts by eliminating sanctuary cities, securing our border, and enforcing the immigration laws we currently have on the books. We cannot sit idly by and allow local policies to undercut efforts made at the federal and state level."

This is REALLY GREAT news! I can hardly wait.

Oh. You meant elimination of Sanctuary City status. I thought you meant we were just going to burn them down.
I'd be in favor of that, too.

Will the State provide the local PDs with the funds to cover the additional costs?

It's easy to tell people to do things while denying them the means to do it.

Detaining someone for a day or two while ice gets there to get them shouldn't cost too much.

I think they are wondering who will pay for it.

I suppose they could impose new taxes on Dallas and Houston residents to meet the mandate.
