I know Obama has been doing it, and now Trump. And please, as a liberal I beg other liberals not to say how great Obama tweets and how bad Trump tweets (which I have heard already).

Is Twitter and other social media outlets a good way for the president to communicate to the public? Call me old fashioned, but although I use social media I'm not convinced is presidential (for lack of a better term). I prefer press conferences on TV or radio, listening to the president speak.

I don't think anyone should post on social media. Any offhanded remark could cause you not to be hired for a job decades from now.

It depends. Well thought out stuff? Sure. Knee jerk reactions? Absolutely not. It gives away too much of whats going on in a presidents head. It can cause fights and conflict where none needs to be. Its immature.

Sure, why not? Because it is not traditional? Social media is rather new, so of course presidents in the past would not have used it. I wonder when TV came out if there were people thinking it was not appropriate for the president to be on TV.

Nothing to do with tradition. But especially with Twitter the words are limited. There isn't anything simple about being president, and tweets can easily be taken out of context. In fact anything typed can be taken out of context.

None of those types would hire me anyway.

I think he should join CD! His handle could be "TheOrangeMan.".

I think if he wants to tweet, he should delegate the tweets to professionals lol.

Too much room for error, when you are tweeting off the top of your head.

I hate TV news channels after their fraudulent coverage of elections & shameless bias. I listen only to country music & pop music channels on radio. But I can be reached through social media easily so I would prefer that platform. I dont care presidential or not but thats where I am available now.

Two ideas on this: FIRST: I hate SM with a passion and don't think anyone should use it. SECOND: because people don't listen to me on my first point we may as well use this as a way to toughen people up and slap them out of their "everything offends me" state of mind. You can't shame people or ruin lives over a misused word, a turn of phrase or a moment of anger if everyone is doing it.

It the President using social media means the regular media can be further marginalized, then I am all for it.
