Guy just decks her out of the blue. Crazy, because Flagstaff is one of those cities in this state known for easy living and laid back people. There are a lot of issues with alcohol and the Native Americans (and the college students) up there, and that can get a bit hairy at times, but this is just ridiculous.
The cops in this have gotta be reigned in. It's that simple.
And they want to make filming cops illegal. All cops should be body cammed. It will do 2 things. Convict the 95% when the cop made the correct call and show the 5% when the cop needs to not be a cop.
I always try to avoid walking by cops on the street for this reason. If a cop just decided to flex his power by hitting me, I couldn't fight back like I would if it was anyone else.
There were probably thousands of interactions between the police and the rest of us that day and most did go as they should so it is mostly a few bad apples.
That said, the problem is the bad apples haven't been dealt with. He checked off all the excuses they are taught to use. IMO none of them are valid now because he refused to turn his body camera on during his supposed attack.
Also, she had no warrant. IMO you have every right to resist and demand to know why you are being touched.
Oh my God. I can't gut stuff like this, it just makes my blood boil.
They need to put these cops through psychological testing each year by a third party agency that isn't government related. Too many sick f's become cops so they can do this and get away with it.
But with regard to your title, there are almost a million cops in the country. When it comes to cops, by few, I think people mean a small percentage, not a handful.
I hope the cop didn't hurt his hand when she hit it with her face.
