Seriously, we know the cartoonish backstory is a tale that barely resembles what actually happened. As centuries pass, stories change. What the holiday has become is a day to give thanks for the things you have, spend time with family catching up on each other's lives, and good food. Doesn't have to be turkey. It can be a ham, goose, or even a baked chicken. We have relatives in poor health and finances and we offer them help in the form of a meal and either food or a grocery store gift card.
I think this is so much better than thinking a stranger did this for them. Kudos to you and your family, this is how it should be!

Before today, I would have invited two married friends for dinner, her spouse is a Naive American. Today, my friend sends me a text that said he is dumping her, since he found a new girlfriend. Unless I hear his side of it, he's no longer welcome in my home..

On a happier note, victomofGM has the true holiday spirit!

Sure I want a free dinner. I was BORN here, so I'm a native. Just because my ancestors weren't savages...

Based on 3,794,101 sq. mi., that’s only enough for a population of 379,410 indigenous people living a primitive lifestyle in America.

Even if you multiply that by 10, it's still only 3.7 million.
Contrast that with today's population of 320 million. I am sure that 98.9% of us are glad to be here, even if you don't agree.

But keep laughing, if it helps.

NDN'S do not agree with you especially when the Buffalo Roam the plains. What is that theory anyway (Manifest Destiny) intelligent Godly reasoning for taking land away from Indians.
