Double standard. No doubt. A business that refuses a cake for a gay couple due to religious principles is hateful. A business that refuses a dress for the First Lady due to political principles is righteous.
If the Left didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all.
Edited to add: Michelle never looked good in her clothes. Her fashion taste was horrible, in my opinion. I think Melania would not want to use any of the dreadful "designers" who dressed Michelle.
The Left experienced a period where hand-picked judges enforced their abnormal beliefs, and tried their best to force acceptance on the general population. That should soften a bit from now on.
Michelle Obama's designers had a tough road to hoe. Her gangly figure was difficult to design for.

I think it's news because many people who voted for Trump were interested in going back to "the way it used to be"; i.e. when the President wasn't black. It is very important to have an attractive looking white family of fashion models in the White House- even the Trump males have a Hitler youth tinge to them. That is more important to some than the welfare of the country and the world.
Melania is supposed to be an adornment and a clothes horse. Being a college drop out, she will not be expected to rival Michelle as an educated brainy woman.

Book smart doesn't equal street smart. Lots of folks think about the political implications of a Trump presidency and we really like what we see.
Trophy wives, no matter who they are married to get talked about behind their backs...it goes with the territory. It's a moral thing they've done wrong to marry for money. In a First Lady that's not a good example for our children. As for what fashion designer she'll use, who ever it is it will be extravagant which is her right as a trophy wife.
Have you tried dating as a man in the US lately? Any woman from the US as attractive as Melania only dates a guy with high social status and wealth. Good example for our children lol yeah right, too late for that. People are just jealous of her and I think it's safe to say a lot of those people are women. Trump made the smartest move he could ever make for his 3rd marriage, not marry a woman from the US. THe third time is the charm they say.

There is nothing "brainy" about force feeding inedible lunches to kids or ripping up the lawn for a garden.
People are just jealous of her and I think it's safe to say a lot of those people are women.

She's an immigrant, and for all intents and purposes, an uneducated one (dropping out of college still puts her in that category); spread eagle and did soft porn with another female in a magazine; used nothing except her body to get ahead; married a multi-millionaire; and now has been force fed down the throats of Americans as the first lady to be...something that many don't believe she deserves...
She's not the epitome of anything many would find admirable or respectable...
Michelle dresses in a beautiful and classy manner. Melania has not been seen in much yet, but based on past photos, she would have benefitted greatly from Michelle's stylist.
