So you want to basically have land voting? That seems like an even worse idea than the current structure of the electoral college. How about we restructure the electoral college to better reflect the population evenly across the country, and then do away with the 270 threshold and go to a system of the highest amount of electoral votes is the winner. By doing that, it would better represent the country, and would make it easier for third parties to compete, and potentially do away with the two party system.
