OK...supposedly he's gonna tear up the present agreement...then what?
Even if Trump intends to unravel the deal, his options to do so directly are very limited. It is, after all, not a bilateral deal with Iran that he is in a position to void on his own, but one that also includes Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, codified in a U.N. Security Council resolution.
The United States cannot unilaterally void or amend the agreement without violating international law. Any effort to directly kill the deal — or even renegotiate it — will isolate the United States, and not Iran.
Funny how democrats are all becoming conservatives now claiming nothing can be changed at all. Who knew much about Obama crappy Iran plan until he sprung it on us?

And what exactly is the alternative; another endless war that costs American lives and adds trillions more to the debt?

Complete and utter nonsense. Iran and the International community were warned about this repeatedly. The International community does not dictate the laws of this country. The President does not have the legal authority to enter into legally binding contracts on his own, period. Their failure to heed those warnings is their problem.
Treaties with other countries require a 2/3 vote in the Senate. While the Senate has abdicated some responsibility for this as matter of practicality for minor agreements any major treaty like this has to go through the Senate to be legally binding.
