Man, I've traveled all around the US and when I mention that I'm from California around one of the little hillbilly areas they usually stand in awe. I get questions like, "what is it like to live in the great state of California?" and "what could I do in my life that will allow me to move to California one day?".. I try and lend a helping hand with good advise..
Lol, "hillbilly towns" stand in awe do they? North of Pahrump in this state doesn't see California's getting much of a welcome in the cow counties, let alone inspiring awe. Used to be the same way in OR 30 years back. They were right to not want them there as it turns out. Both NV and Oregon have been Californicated now.
Don't know what rural towns you've been traveling to, but the ones I've been to in NV, AZ, UT, WY and MT are hardly in awe of California's prowling about. The N CA counties don't even like being a part of the state and haven't for some time. Shasta, Plumas, Sierra, Modoc and Lassen tried to become part of NV back in the late 80's early 90s. It was called the Northern NV Movement, and came within a whisker of succeeding.
Now, honest to God "hillbillies" dying to beco.e California's or having their state become like CA? Where are these places at? Personally, I've never seen the like.
Exactly, why would California want to merge with Mexico when it could be a strong country on its own?
They are absolutely clueless of California's contributions to the national economy.

ok and???
the USA still is the BIGGEST (without Cali at 16 million)
why is Cali always touting that they are #6..... ???
aren't we supposed to be a UNITED states..... cant cali figure out the united part...do they always consider themselves separate???
I don't think the US would fight a war over it after I've thought on it. But I could see them blockading all the ports into California and essentially cutting California off completely from the rest of the world. All the pipelines in would be shut down.
I'm not saying they wouldn't survive, but they would be a 3rd world country for 100 years. And what would they do with all their freeloaders. No way Trump would let one of them come into the US LOL.

Funny, every Californian I've met goes on and on about much they want to leave.
Judging by the mass exodus leaving CA, it's apparent that must be a popular opinion.
California's biggest export to Texas is Californians themselves. Taking $1.71 Billion with them.
And you're importing Mexicans to replace them, bringing with them $0.
Good luck with that long term export strategy.

Sheesh did you pay any attention to the National Election we just had? You got no much chance of getting a amendment passed. The only way to get out is fighting your way out.
And given that you have to have a background check to even buy bullets now as well as most guns that can fire more than one shot without reloading are banned AND the people behind this stupid idea don't believe in weapons "fighting their way out" ain't gonna happen unless it's with latte and stale granola bombs...
Let the petition supporters cry it out, we'll set up a go "F-me" account for tissues and pampers along with cocoa and teddy bears...

Large parts of CA are ALREADY what you describe so it wouldn't be a far stretch for the rest to head that way...
Man, the more I hear about what's going on there the more embarrassed I am to be from there, but certainly happy that I left before it got wayyyy out of hand...
From time to time some in Texas rattle the Sabre.....don't know what some Californians are rattling.
