Obama now talking about why he chose these Hollywood elites for the medal of freedom. It's because he liked their songs or movies.

These awards used to go to people like Mother Theresa.

The Nobel Prize used to be worth something as well. This post is worthy of a Pulitzer.

Again, all Presidents award people across a number of various categories, including the arts. This isn't unusual.

You're trying to make it sound like he's the only one who has done this. All Presidents do it.

To be honest, I can see Ellen above most of the others. She was very brave to come out when/how she did. For many, that was a career killer. But she didn't give a damn and took a huge risk, giving voice and hope to many other LGBTQ Americans.

The Award winners are major donors to the DemoncRatic Party and this was "The One" last go around ... Hillary and Obama then hosted a Spirit Dinner in their honor.

I agree with President Obama on this choice. Congrats to Kareem, or Lew as we knew him back in NYC Catholic School (Power Memorial).

I am not, and never was a Basketball Fan. Kareem always was very politically aware and this is what we mostly talked about as teenagers.

He was a "good guy" even back then. We NYC girls/women can spot a a good guy from a bad guy a mile away. Hello, Donald? You were one of the bad guys on my list way back when.
