Lincoln wouldn't recognize his party, either.

One of my more favorite videos where JFK sounds a whole lot like Donald Trump.

And yes, his tax cuts really did work. Taxes were drastically cut but revenue to the US Treasury actually went up.

And Reagan would be shocked at the extreme of his party.

So what?

Ummm...No, JFK believed in 80% tax on the richest people in America! Far higher than Sanders pushed for. Trump believes the rich are hurting and want to massively slash funding for vital services for the people in order to provide gifts to the donor class.

Is that why Kennedy cut taxes from 81% to those earning a million a year in 1962

to 71% in 1964?

I always wondered why Kennedy did that.

One thing to notice is even with these tax cuts the total direct revenue to the treasury went up from 27.54% to 27.74% and while buttercups might scratch their heads in bewilderment it makes sense once you understand the quickest way to get rid of something is to tax it. Also note that GDP skyrocketed.

Taxes are a burden on productivity and if you tax productivity to high it will go away. That shouldn't be a hard concept to understand. Would you work harder for less?

Kennedy's tax cut was trickle down economics before that name was invented.

Well yes. But then the top rate at the time was 90%, because we had just finished paying off WWII (yes, Virginia, there was a time when we actually believed in pay-as-you-go.) That top rate was cut to 40% or so, IIRC. And, as you note, the economy did very well indeed with that tax structure. I'd go back to it in a minute, if I thought that tax rates had all that much to do with it. But I don't believe that's the case, so...

That you don't know what you're talking about whatsoever.

If JFK never said it, and you heard the quote:

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

Would you assume it was said by a democrat, or a republican?
